J.Seven:
Amazing event, thanks for sharing this report and great pics. What did you found about Portimão circuit? I love it, it has lots of ups and downs and it´s very , very demanding, one of the best circuits I´ve been, if not the best.
I absolutely loved the elevation changes, it reminds me a lot of my home track. It is a track that's build around the terrain and not a flat cookie cutter track.
For me at least, it is a intense circuit, there aren't anywhere where I can take a breather, even the long front straight is no push over as the speed achieved is so high.
The last 2 corners are my favourite, it takes guts to go at them at speed, but it also feel quite safe as there are generous run offs. Actually the whole track feels quite safe. On one session I was in the 918, the brakes didn't quite engaged properly at the end of the front straight, imagine sliding down the hill at 290km/hr. I move right well cleared of the racing line to avoid nailing my instructor, also to make myself be seen on his mirrors to avoid him turning in for the corner, I ended up stopping at the run offs at the end. The next lap I wasn't going quite as fast and the brakes hold, but the 3rd lap around I experienced the same thing, not quite as bad as the first time but my instructor had already begin his turn in so I went way wide on the left. We proceed to get back into the pits to have the car checked out. This was one advantage of him knowing my style from before, I don't follow as close as some of the other guys to leave a margin for error and I also make myself be seen if I am in trouble. The car got sent back to the mechanics to be checked out and came back a session later. No words on what happened.
Fantastic for sure and I had already told them I would loved to return to it in the future, more so than Paul Ricard.
