Are you ready for the new 911?

I've made some sketches of a new 911... here is a little preview...

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

lol, Farina, it is always good to be prepared for THE NEXT 911... the 998 so to say!

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

nooo farina!!! show the rest!! ahhh! painful to wait

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

Please draw in a head-up display and forward-looking infrared optics. I just figure: Why should all the high technology be only in the chassis and engine compartment? Oh boy, hope I didn't start a food fight with that suggestion.

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

holminator your suggestion is right on the mark, because as someone else pointed out the law of diminishing returns has hit the engine area on many cars. Helpful gadgets like those will make a car in the future.

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

Ok... here is the rest of the beast!
And now let's start discussion: must the next 911 look
    more classical or more radical?

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

    Farina,
In the front view, it looks like it leans forward (like in hard braking) I am surprised how much it resembles a 360 then! It looks like a real supercar, thats a truth. Probably this is too radical for a porduction model, but very nice as first desig sketches!

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

love it, the rims could be a bit less bling bling other than that, another great piece

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

the rear is a bit boxster-like, other than that...no more funny jokes for Clarkson

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

farina, very nice job. I like the shape very much.
Not sure about the rear and the front but if I try to ignore them, the shape is great. I just think the front should be a little bit more futuristic (we're entering 2010 with the 998) and the rear maybe too including smaller LED rear lights. How about different variations of this design, same shape (one maybe slightly "lower", Ferrari-like) and with different fronts and rears? And based on them, we could start a highly interesting discussion.

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

    Farina,

nice drawing. The front fender resemble the CGT's and Panamericana concept in my eyes!

The 911 never looked radical, it has to be classic (some people call it conservative) to ensure its long-lasting attraction to the customer.
I am very fond of Lagaay's work, I appreciate the partially muscular, partially elegant bodywork of the two previous generations. I do believe that his urge for innovation and expression might have been held back on the 997 and - to a certain extend - on the 996.

Hmmm. When were Clarkson's jokes ever funny?

Here is my answer, should PAG people be reading:

The 911 must always remain classic! Let the others follow fads. The 911 shape is an immortal classic.

He thought it was funny himself

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

The overall shape looks fantastic but as everyone mentioned front and rear can be tweeked a bit.

The overall shape looks very very nice .

If I had your talent I would call my shop Porfarina .

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

    To be very precise,

the side windows strongly resemble the 360/430 and their bottom end is way too high for a Porsche 911.

The rear overhang is a bit too short in my eyes to accomodate the rear engine, this should be the reason why people see a Boxster there...

What programme did you create the pics in? Photoshop or InDesign?

    Greetings!

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

Great looking concept Farina, I can see this as a new super Boxster easily. I also think that the 911 should have all the classic elements that help distinguish it from the rest of the line up.:)

Re: Are you ready for the new 911?

I'll take one. How may HP is the question
