Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for orders?

    Hi guys,

Just curious as to know how many dealers have a special VIP list for orders on who WILL get the first batch of cars allocated to their specific region?

I phoned my dealer this morning to confirm that if my deposit has been shifted to the F430 "successor" and he told me although I am the first to request this verbally, I will still be +- 15th on the list. He says he has clients that have been buying since 1970 and they will ALWAYS get first option, there has even been a written contract for this. WTF?!

I then politely told him, it's a bit difficult to be one of them if he can't even get me a car and I've had my deposit down since Feb 2005. He said he will come back to me.

Just wondering if this was the case with any other dealer?

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for orders?

I sign up with my dealer and he confirmed that I could have one of the first cars under the condition I lease it and dont sell it for one year...

lets see what happens. Never owned a F car before.

That said I am by no means a "dream" client like you Mike.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

The "lists" are getting more and more elusive these days. Just go along with it and stay in their face. The (pleasantly) squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for orders?

Those that believe there is a list also believe there is a Santa Claus.

Anything resembling a list would only exist in a Ferrari owned dealership. The independent dealers could not survive being "democratic".

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

They could if Ferrari raises the price like they should and gives a bigger portion to the dealers...

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

Hmmm, it seems it is only happening here. Just my luck

Thanks Tee, I would happily oblige to those conditions if I could get my hands on one. I buy to drive and enjoy, not to make profit. Maybe I should just stick to my buying them from outside dealers with premiums

Just irritates me that I can buy from various exotic dealers etc. without any hassle and trying to just get a hold of a base(please don't take offence to it) Ferrari is just a pain in the ass!

    +1
By principle I will not buy a new or recent Ferrari until they come out clean.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

with fixed production capacity, unfortunately this type of nonsense is going to be going on for a long time with ferrari...as newly minted bazzillionairs in china, india, russia , and even soon africa no doubt want to flaunt their newly found wealth with no particular love of ferraris, rather they have determined its a status symbol and pussy magnet...those of us with a love of the machine are gonna be increasingly out of luck unless you to want to get into the pissing match with these, enthusiasts

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

Mike, what do you have to do to get your dealer to treat you as a VIP customer? Haven't you bought ENOUGH cars from him??? He's "treating you mean, to keep you keen".

Mike there is a process and with your fire power you should not have to wait long. If you have a Ferrari dealer in your area, go and have a sit down chat with them. Explain your love of cars and the cars you own.

Get to know them and they may provide a solution. Do not view them in a hostile manner. If you were in their shoes you would conduct business in the same way.

The F430 I have bought are a "general" exotics showroom, they aren't the official dealer. The people I'm ordering from are the only official dealers in this country. Have still not been able to get a new car out of them to date.

    Hi Nick,

Problem is I have not been a life long customer so it does not matter what I own or my capability is to purchase. The dealer doesn't care, it's his old "cliental" that is his priority.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for orders?

Mike S, I can understand that you're irritated by this, but look at the dealers perspective: they have a very limited supply in respect to demand. In my view, its only reasonable to offer your long-term clients the first choice (i.e. client loyalty).

I understand, but how can I be a long-term client if he can't even assist me to short term

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

Has it occurred to you that you may own a car or two they are interested in selling?

You should make him an offer he can't refuse

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for orders?

Any good F (or any other brand dealer) that has a competitive base of repeat custs will prioritize based upon various factors, incl no./frequency of cars bought; age (younger is better, as longer likely buying span ahead); referrals of other relevant custs (and referral by a major repeat cust if one is a first-time F buyer); use of car (esp car being often seen at relevant restaurants, office pkg garages, etc where other likely custs will see car in-use...free marketing for brand ); relationship w/sr salesguys/FNA (many wannabe custs are annoying, inconsiderate guys; simple decency often does wonders), etc....

Smart marketing IMO to prioritize custs based upon likely profitability (no matter economy, marital status, etc) over next 1-25yrs, rather than in some less economically rational manner....suspect median age of high-priority custs at FoSF and Miller (Greenwich), US' two most powerful F dealers, keeps decreasing, as more and more of frequent-repeat custs are 30-45yo techies and hedgies, respectively, who often view F's (or any other cars) as being rapidly obsolescent/disposable tech commodities, more akin to their Blkberry/smartphones/flat-panel TVs, rather than some more long-term consumption/deferred consumption good as a Patek watch or bottle of Petrus (from a decent yr of course)....

If they dont want to sell me a car great. but all this bs about "you need to earn you spot first" sounds like a great ponzi scheme. they will also need to continue to raise production each year as each year there are more people "in the club" which will claim the right to a new car!

I am relaxed. Although the F430 looks good driving one is not as rewarding as my GT3. Hence I will wait for the next iteration.

The option to buy used will always be there more and more as the true collectors become the minority. Plus the good think with F owners is that they dont really drive their cars

a friend just got his 43 0coupe in 6 months and he has never bought a ferrari before.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

I thought this issue only existed in the USA. At least in Europe/Asia, (less so in Asia now with the influx of so much new money) that buying an F-car was not an issue.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

Exactly It really isn't that difficult to get a F430 here in London. Any 'flash Harry' can buy a F430 if they have the dough. It shows what nberry talks about ("look how exclusive my F430 is", "it's so special to own one of these things") for the tripe that it is...F430s are everywhere in the flashy parts of London. Just go to Knightsbridge, Kensington, Chelsea, Mayfair, Belgravia or even Notting Hill and you'll see these cars parked on the street like any other car. There is serious money in those parts of London and plenty of ostentatious types who like to flash their wad.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

I will get my 1st F car in October.
Order was placed on June 20 so that's 4 months.
But the cars were scheduled two years ago for the launch of the frist F dealership+service facility.

From what I hear I guess the difference lays somewhere else. I believe the F brand is seen completely different in UK, Eastern Europe, Asia, US, etc.

Re: Does your Ferrari dealer have VIP list for ord

In countries where the demand is very high like The US, UK, France and Germany Ferrari dealers do have a "VIP" list. Ferrari are very good with rewarding loyal customers and the more number of Ferrari car you have bought/own, the higher up on the order list you get.

Loyal Ferrari customers tend to spec their cars out properly and don't cancel order. Further more they frequent buyers so it is quite natural to reward them and let they get a new Ferrari before some you 23 years old guy, who have made a fortune playing poker and want to floss in a new drop to Ferrari.
