    Great - seems like the Varta is a good solution.

    The only issue for people with extended warranties is that it needs to be a genuine Porsche part to preserve the extended warranty. Is this the case? Or does one have to use a Moll battery? Or some other brand?

    Maybe it was just happy to be alive again, but the engine seemed to be much more eager to rev to the red line immediately after the change, behaved like it'd been spanked with a riding crop. Maybe it's just the engine management 'learning', and it'll calm down a bit soon. I hope not though!


    Could it be due to the alternator charging the new battery considerably less than the old defective one?

     I learned the hard way to always keep on top of those awful Moll batteries.(stupid radio code on an old 986).

    When I bought my current Boxster, first thing I did was get new wiper blades ('cos there's nothing worse than a smeared windscreen) and then the local Porsche Independent put a brand new Bosch Silver battery on for me.
