Parking sensors

Who's got parking sensors on their 987 then? What do you reckon to them? Accurate and useful, or annoying?

Same system is very accurate on my 997 - essential kit given the vehicle's design. However, on my old 986, I never felt I needed it, and had no trouble parking without it.

I didn't think about parkassist until I had my demonstration drive. I tried to add it, but my car was already in production by then. My wife is vertically challenged (she gets upset if I call her short) and rearwards visibility would be a problem for her when reversing.

I have ParkAssist on my 987.

Very useful, given the bulbous rear.

It only beeps, intermittently, until it becomes a continuous tone at about 12 inches from a target.

I rate it.

I have the parking assist on my Ford Expedition and it's great given the size of the vehicle. I personally can't see any reson why you would need it on a car this small though.

Erm, I was specifically after info on the fitment to the 987. I have had experience of Park Assist systems on various vehicles, some good, some not so good. Wondered what it was like on the Boxster. Rich C, I spy them on your baby I think - any good?

Hi,

I have ParkAssist on my 987. An essential Pounds300 piece of kit. Used mine loads in the 6 days of ownership as you can't really see out the back. Very discreet too vs 986 stick on things

!

What I really need is ParkAssist FOR WHEELS. I have turned into a cabbage parking against the kerb with my 19"s. I can get within 6 inches of the car behind but I an still 18 inches from the kerb!!!

I choose ParkAssist with my April build S order because I got so used to it with my 2003 2.7. It really is a must have and the new one have even smaller sensors than the 986. On a black car you have to pretty close to notice them.

Thanks for the info peeps; I'll see if I can get it added to the order. I think it might be easier to tell them what I'm NOT speccing at this rate!
