    Ruf yellowbird for sale in Sweden

    see here: yellow bird

    The price is less than Euro 50k and $60k ... I'm quite tempted but to be honest, I don't think I've got the skills to handle it all...

    Been browsing the net since since I first posted this. Several things strike me as odd. The engine looks not like the other pictures I've found (and absolutely not the item marked GT3, sorry for my ignorance but I don't know the function of that. Secondly, there seems to have been built 28 CTRs and clearly, they must fetch higher prices? Or maybe not in Sweden?

    Help me out please, what do you make of it?

    That is not a true Yellow Bird from what I can casually tell from the photos. The GT3 thing is an airfilter.

    The thing that tells me right away that something isn't right is the engine photo. The Yellowbird has dual intercoolers built over the rear wheels. This car has a more normal single intercooler.

    If you contact Ruf with the VIN number (it should have a Ruf VIN and not a Porsche VIN), they can give you the details...

    I agree...also it says 1980, I believe the first Yellowbird was built in 1986. It might be a conversion done with Ruf parts on a 911SC??

    That thing is beautiful - love the Silver (even if it is a "Yellowbird")!

    definately agree, enginge room also lacks all the "badges" from Ruf with vehicle information, as can be seen in the pictures from the scanned magazine.

    I've been looking for an air cooled porsche for a while (that's why I've found this one) but unfortunately, too many of them for sale in Sweden are hobby projects with too many parts changed. Stock to me (and perhaps low mileage) is more attractive than any adjustable dampers or retrofitted sport exhaust.

    A car like that will keep it's value for a long time, when we're facing a world of cars with more and more auto-boxes, all the electronic aids you can get etc.

    I think it is....notice the shifter console, vents at the top of the rear window and the torsion bar end plates, definitely pre-964/965. 1991 is probably the year RUF built the car, not the year that the shell was built by Porsche.

    Good eye - that is interesting. I would surely like to have that silver yellowbird much more than a 997TT and it costs about the same ($120k + aircargo from Europe), although they'd probably take less...

    Too bad it isn't US-legal. Maybe some sort of exhibition-only (with 2,500 miles/yr) exemption could be had...
