    Optional Floor Mats

When I ordered my cab a few months back, there was a hold on the less expensive floor mat so I had them deleted to move the order along. With all of the recent talk about the "quality" issues with these standard mats, I was curious if anyone has found any alternatives (good ones) that may compliment the cars interior, but be less expensive than the leather trimmed mats offered by Porsche. Any thoughts? Thanks

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

I really don't have any issue with my $115.00 Porsche floor mats. I've got a second set on order just for "storage", in the event that I keep the car for 30-40 years and wind up showing it. It's an old habit, if I like a car, I start filling the shelf with spares while the spares are available, so that years down the road I've got everything I need to put the car back to new, while everyone else is throwing money at eBay to acquire rare original parts. ANYHOW, my mats are wearing just dandy, but I'm not a suit and tie guy wearing hard-sole shoes. That can really hurt a mat. Also, keeping mats clean and vacuumed is essential, as dirt and sand will act like an abrasive (like scouring powder or sandpaper) and chew-up your carpet where your heel rests in no time. So, keeping things clean and wearing casual shoes (or barefoot, when I'm wearing my flip-flops I just kick them off in front of the seat ), and my mats will last me for a long long time I'll bet. So far I'm at 2,100 miles, and the mats are the same as the day they were new.

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

I haven't ordered from these guys but they seem to have a good selection of logos/ colors etc cheap. They have a "vinyl edge binding" for an extra $10.00. Maybe it looks like the PORSCHE leather edged mats ?

I went for the leather trimmed PORSCHE mats in my cab. I saw them in a 997 a couple of weeks ago and think they really look great. For an extra $250 over what you would pay for cheaper mats IMO they are well worth the money. Some people couldn't care less about mats but it's a pet peeve of mine. Mats take up one the largest area's in car I want mine to be nice. Kinda like how you would want your carpet to look in your house but everyone likes to spend money differently. Good luck.

I don't know what it's like in the US, but in the UK, if you have an accident whilst driving barefoot, the insurance company can refuse to pay up.

Huh???? Man, when I'm barefoot, I can manipulate the pedals like Stirling Moss..... Shoes slip off pedals far easier than my little piggies, so what on earth would they consider the "risk" or "negligence" to be???

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

It's because in the UK the foot oder is so horrific it can act as an intoxicant and cause drivers to black out and cause accidents.

    kidding, ok?

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

AHA!!! So, by that logic, I suppose it's illegal in France to drive in a tank top??

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

I received the Lloyd floormats from US speed online yesterday....Not very pleased....I ordered sand beige (it's meant to be a Porsche color match) and unfortunately the color isn't even close. I have called them to ask what went wrong & they're looking into it. They were fast, and customer service seems responsive, so hopefully I'll get a positive outcome. I've attached a photo so you can see the difference...It's a shame because the quality of the mat is a lot better than the junk Porsche is pedling

That wouldn't look very good in your interior, would it.
Looking in the speedline link I posted above there's other color's that look closer to the Porsche sand beige then their sand beige.
You should send them that picture.

I've already sent them some pics....It looked ghastly in the car...the shade & tone are off...so it stuck out like a saw thumb

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

i ordered from them also over the weekend.... but i went with the blue w/beige logo. keeping those beige ones clean is a biatch. plus i'm trying to deviate a bit on my midnight blue / sand beige cab. Hope they look better than that!!!!

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

Got an update from US speed today....Apparently, their sand beige carpet is correct for the Cayanne sand beige interior....the 997 is using a different color carpet for their interior. They have sent a guy down to their local Porsche dealership to color match the 997 sand beige carpet interior and will remake the mats for me. Can't get fairer than that...As I said in the previous post their customer service seemed to be on the ball. I'll post an update when I get them....

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

    You don't believe that!

I ordered my car with Floor Mats for about 290 Euro !!
Today I see the Tequipment Catalogue with almost the same mats (instead of leather surrounding something else) a pair 110 Euro and a set of four for 178 Euro .

Sounds almost like they didn't check out color differences between the 996 and 997 but as long as they are fixing it which they are no harm done.

Did the 996 have a sand beige which is now slightly different in the 997 ?

    Re: Optional Floor Mats

    Stradale
Sand wasn't available in the 996...It was savannah beige...They offer both. I guess they thought sand in the Cayenne and 997 would be the same....The leather is the same, but the dash is two tone on the cayenne & I guess the carpet must be different. They actually show the sand beige floormat in a cayenne & it's a perfect match...I guess the moral is not assume anything!!
    Seven,
These are aftermarket mats...not the tequipment ones.
