    e46M3 quicker around the track than a 987S?

    Is that true? There is the post on the Cayman S board that says M3 is quicker than 987S. Can anyone confirm this?

    It really depends on the track. The M3 E46 hits 125 mph (200 kph) over 4 seconds faster than the new Boxster S.
    So on the Nordschleife, the M3 would very likely be faster.
    In Hockenheim (Kleiner Kurs) for example, a "low speed" track, the Boxster S is slightly faster than the M3.
    Also don't forget that the M3 has over 60(!) HP more than the Boxster S.

    yeah but the boxster s is much more fun to drive around the track!!!

    I would definitely prefer the Boxster S as the handling experience counts for something. Though the M3 isn't bad for such a practical coupe. And it accelerates well IMO.

    Yeah, when I thought about e46M3 being quicker, I immediately thought about it handling better than a 987S. I didn't think about how the track is built, for low speed or high speed. See, I have an e46 330Ci, lowered and wider wheels and spacers (maybe equate to a M3), and it still doesn't feel or handles as good. I am planning to get a 987S in two months, and I don't want something that can't outhandle my car.

    You won't be disappointed. The 987S will give a much more involving driving experience than the 3er!

    Hi all,
    In terms of handling, the 987s is in a league all its own.
    I would love to see more power, but in terms of poise and balance, the 987s is in a class all by itself. For me this more than makes up for its lack of raw speed .
