    1st service today, almost

    My 2006 C4 Cab was delivered with an error message, "WARNING - Headlights Are Misaligned". No biggy for sure but it kinda drives you crazy every time you start the car. Should a brand new car leave the dealer (Paramount Motors in Hickory, NC) with an ERROR message? Me thinks not.
    I took the car to Deal Motors in Asheville this morning. They were nice, turns out it's a bad "front suspension angle sensor" (surprise, it's a bad sensor!) feeding the computer bad info. Garbage in, garbage out. Of course they have to order it so I get to go back. I wonder how many sensors there are in our P-cars and if they run under "Windows" or maybe I don't want to know.

    Mostly main highways (I-26, I-40, I-240) to Asheville from my house and I NEVER (almost) take these kinds of roads. Nice big truck kicked up a stone and it really made an ugly noise when it hit P-car but I don't see any damage. Then, I ran over (killed) a grey squirrel on my way home. Do you think they'd come to my house in the woods and install the sensor if I paid them lots of money?

    bstew, how much we talkin' here?

    My day today.
    P-car was delivered in November with an error message, "WARNING - Headlights Are Misaligned".
    Every time I start the car it beeps and yells at me, this got old fast so I went to the closest dealer (Asheville) today to get it removed/fixed.
    Had to drive on I-26, I-40, and I-240; highways I would NEVER go on if I could avoid it.
    Got lost in Asheville, asked a homeless person for directions (BIG MISTAKE) but he was the only being I came across. He gave me good directions how to get back on I-240 BUT I was heading back home so I had to find an exit with an on-ramp in the middle of rush hour crazy people.
    I got to the dealer, it's a sensor problem (no surprise there) but they have to order the part so I'll have to go back there again.
    Does anyone have any idea how many sensors there are in new cars? It's scary!
    A big truck threw up a stone on my way home and it made a HELL of a noise when it hit P-car but I see no damage anywhere.
    Then, to make it a perfect trip, a grey squirrel ran under both wheels right in front on my house.
    My defense your Honor for having ended this creatures' life:
    1.) I was going slow because I have to turn into my driveway,
    2.) I ALWAYS go slow near my house because the stray cat, Sampson, crosses there and as does the young White Squirrel,
    3.) I ALWAYS scan the road (any road I'm driving on) left and right for any movement and I miss hitting many animals this way,
    4.) I sit down low in the P-car and never saw the squirrel or any movement so it must have run out right under the wheels; if I were driving Watson (Honda Element) I may have seen it.
    5.) There is no Grand Plan of the Universe, there are no "meant to be's", there is no Jesus or Mohammed or Buddha; give me a beak, it's all just random good or bad luck with Nature in control and Nature don't save no-body. Not squirrels nor miners. Today, that squirrel had some very bad luck and I am very sorry for it. It may have ruined MY DAY but it certainly ruined the squirrel's LIFE!
    6.) Considering the above, I'm going to ask the dealer how much it will cost ME to have THEM come HERE and install the stupid sensor when it comes in.

    I like to think it is OCEAN, I was a Philosophy major so I'm afraid I can't help myself.
    Lately I've been thinking how it's possible that really bad things happen to good people. My "solution" is Nature is in control of this "plane" and unfathomable things seem to fall in place.

    You are correct. One would think that at some point we would have enough money but it never seems to happen, so we never have enough time.

    Totally agree - Nav would have saved the day. Have to say, even though the P system isnt the newest or best on the block, it does work well, especially those points of interest lists.

    How not to instill confidence. I asked Service Manager how much for oil & filter change for future shock purposes. "$85" he replied. "$85 huh", I said, "Gee, that's a good price". "You do know this car takes 11 quarts of oil right?", I said. "Oh, really?, then it would be more", he replied. I think he's from the Audi part of the operation.
