. The special track pads would not work perfectly on the street…they need more heat and are known for squeaking.
It makes absolutely no difference if driven on a track or on the street for the pads, expect if you instal 100% racing pads, which is not the case with the pads we have been mentioning above. There are a lot of different type of pads to choose from adapted to street driving. The extra braking power is also felt when driving 50 km/h in town. I even use them on my DD Carrera S. The down sides are : when used on track they will be harder on the disks and some will have indeed more squeaking when driven in town.
Thanks for the infos

Again, almost all track pads are not road legal in Germany, at least with a German number plate I assume ...
But the ones were were refering to are street legal as they are not 100% track pads, but half street, half track. They are even installed legally by the OPC. Disks are a different story. OPC don't install non original Porsche disks as this would cause warranty problems.
About the Manthey brake pads. They are manufactured by PAGID, the same company that makes the original Porsche pads. It 's a slight different version then the original ones.
Ok, thanks - that's is weird (again, Pagid stresses that their pads are not road legal in Germany) and interesting (if and when Pagid manufactures these for Manthey), perhaps I need to call Manthey and ask whether they have something for my non-GT car ...
There ARE brake pads that have a certification, specifically the ECE R90 standard mentioned above. These certifications are expensive, hence only few (performance) pads have them.
I assume that Manthey has done the certification on their expense and has these specific pads produced for them exclusively. This would definitely be my first choice as well, maybe they can lead you to a pad that would be suitable for your car. If I remember correctly, it is a 981 GTS?
One of the few brands that seem to have a certification are from EBC, basically all their pads that are suited for road use. I have no personal experience but want to try them, opinions are mixed but depend a lot on the variables (which car, brakes, usage) and also which brake disc the pad is used with.
