I believe the hard top is Aluminum ,so a magnet will not work (besides, I would never trust the thing)
I would install the Thule "Rapid tracker " roof rack onto the hard top.
It's rock solid, snaps on/off in seconds and is good for skis, bikes etc.
( and with the rack removed, all you see is 4 low profile attaching bases )
