For those w/ GT3s consider urself lucky!

I was trying to get my hands on a 2008 GT3 for someone from the fleet manager at the 1st or 2nd largest porsche dealership in the U.S. For the 2007 year they were allotted 12 GT3s and 7-8 RS. That's quite a few and they did not charge over MSRP. But for 2008, they only were alloted TWO. That's not very many considering how many 2007 they had. He said there just not alloting that many to anyone. In addition they r selling for over 25k over. Something they rarely do, but because there r so few, they justified it. I guess they r not making that many. If you have one consider urself lucky. I truly believe they will hold their value.

Re: For those w/ GT3s consider urself lucky!

Well, considering the 996 05 GT3s didn't hold their value that much better than the 04s, and that there are more gt3/rs in the 997 generation, I will have to attribute this all to hype.

There is also the idea that the GT3 name has been exploited by Porsche to create a status symbol car instead of something really for enthusiasts. Just pop over to 6speedonline and look at how many driving newbies/total idiots are askin questions about buying their new flashy GT3.

GT3's tend to have better trade-in value than other P's (but that's not saying much )...relatively cheap MSRP cars; loyal following of used GT3 buyers; and somewhat lim (for P) prod vols....and the Luddite GT3 gearbox prob has much nostalgic value for the boomer buyers....

But suspect Scud is a cheaper car for repeat buyers of new F's....100% one-yr trade-in value; cheaper $0-down lease terms; more daily-useable for urban commuting (likely better ground clearance; Bluetooth/iPod, etc)....and a gearbox that <<40yo drivers can appreciate....

Prob 75%+ of actual buyers of any high-end car brand (F/P, etc) are buying an image and struggle w/basic, public roads driving ....high-end sportscars were prob proxies for Viagra, hair transplants, plastic surgery, etc well before many such therapies were invented/proliferated; and GT3s/Scuds, etc will likely continue to be adjuvant therapy for many elder (and younger) drivers/owners searching for an "image"....

What dealer, McKenna? $25k over for an '08, '3. Now that's something to tell the grandkids

Re: For those w/ GT3s consider urself lucky!

Everyone knows Mckenna overcharges. Beverly Hills Porcshe do not usually charge over sticker, but this time they will.

Re: For those w/ GT3s consider urself lucky!

Saw a brand new GT3 from Rusnak on the 710 this morning. White with red wheels. I did not know that the cars were so loud! I heard it 1/4 mile away on the freeway with radio on, windows closed, and air conditioning on. Very nice car.

Re: For those w/ GT3s consider urself lucky!

Does anyone know the exact number of GT3's that will be coming into the States for 2008. Also, is there a 2008 designated GT3?

Re: For those w/ GT3s consider urself lucky!

Isn't that because the GT3 will be using the new 3.8l ? Maybe they don't have recieved allocations for the MK2 yet.

Actually I don't even know if there will be a 997gt3 with a 3.8l, I just read that somewhere. (Probably here . )
