Don't know if I understand you correctly, but PDK is only compulsory in the Turbo S. The standard Turbo comes with 6 speed as standard and PDK as an option.

Maybe even a brand new 7 speed manual, with 7th being a fuel efficient highway gear and a shorter ratio for faster acceleration. The turbo will certainly come with a traditional stick shift do not be worried.
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

This was a specific question re 2011. I have only seen Turbo S cars so far and was wondering if 2012 and the 998 are the next time we see manual Turbo's

While most of the dealers have a number of Turbo S' in stock, I'd check with your local dealer to see when they are getting '11 Turbos with 6 spd in. The US configurator still shows a turbo with 6 spd as being available.
