    Fabspeed GT3 Cup muffler bypass pipes

    Spoke with Fabspeed regarding muffler bypasses for GT3. They told me that they got a doner car in, fabricated the pipes and they are now in production, 2-3 weeks away. They indicated that you can expect a 15hp gain and a 50lb weight reduction by losing the mufflers...Does this sound reasonable, especially the HP gain??? Opinions appreciated. Sounds like the best $500 mod one could do....

    Are there any negative affects by reducing exhaust back pressure or is this all good, if you can bare the sound????

    You will most definately invalidate your warranty.

    Don't think so

    filters and any mods after the cat will not void warranty

    I'm afraid that's not true.
    I've tried.
    You put anything that's not from Porsche on your car, you void the WHOLE warranty. True!
    Your only chance is if you let your official dealer install the exhaust for you, and that's a long shot.

    Don't see it being much of an issue being that it takes one hour to reinstall stock exhaust and airbox prior to bringing into the dealer for service....

    Warranty laws like that are illegal in many States, including New York. Refusal of warranty work would have to be directly related to the modification performed.

    For instance, if you modify your exhaust, then your radio breaks a month after... they still have to fix/give you a new radio free under waranty. Anything otherwise would be ridiculous.

    You're right Rockitman and I agree with you but you know, factory people can be a bit annal sometimes...;)
    Bu then again, I understand them, they'd rather be strict about the rules bc after, people just take advantage.

    Having been the "Victim" of a tuners quoted HP increases on my Mk1 I would volunteer the following piece of advice.

    Dyno the car before you carry out the mods.

    Dyno the car after the mods have been carried out.

    If they do not do what the tuner says it will do you get the upgrade for free.

    You would be amazed at how many fairy tale HP figures do a "Michael Jackson" (disapear into never never land) once you stipulate that this is the terms for buying their product.

    As for the weight, I would probaly agree that this is about right. Replacing my silencers (mufflers) with Techart box's I was amazed at how much lighter they were than stock!.
