    Pictures, please!

I'm interested in viewing some pictures of the interior of a 997 CS at night (ie: the dash).
Also, any pics of the standard "sport leather" steering wheel that comes with the CS (the website is vague on this point).
    Thanks!

    Re: Pictures, please!

    here's a nice one

    Re: Pictures, please!

    VERY NICE!!

    Re: Pictures, please!

Are those dials in black or white like in the S?

    Re: Pictures, please!

At night you can't really see the background colour of the dials. Normal Carrera = Black background, Carrera S = White background. If you look closely, you'll see it has a white background.

    Re: Pictures, please!

does your sport chrono have a light? mine doesn't.

found this one to help explain:

    Re: Pictures, please!

Light only comes on if it is running

    Re: Pictures, please!

Cool thx guys ... still a bit doubting to opt for the black dials on my upcoming S.

    Re: Pictures, please!

I went black on my S. Found the white dials bit hard to read in certain kinds of light. But then again, it might just be me...

I'd get the silver guage faces.

There's more "drama" with them depending on driving conditions. (see above photo)

The thing I don't like about the black guages in the 997/S is thay don't seem to be that really nice classy deep rich black like they were in earlier 911s.

I thinking of ordering the dials also in black like you did it... I agree with you. I've heard that there are many 997 S-owners who decided for the black dials. Does anyone agree?

    Greetings

I was debating getting black dials for my S but the silver ones won the arguement in my head.
Mainly because it's one of the defining visual cues of the S vs. base.
The black dials sure do look good though. If you get the black dials make sure the sports chrono dial is black. I believe I read on RENNTEAM somewhere that if you order black dials the sports chrono clock comes black but I'd make 100% certain.

Also depends on the int./ext. color color's. Which color were you looking at again ?

    Re: Pictures, please!

    Wow! That's a cool pic.
The Silver S dials look white during the day, silver at dusk and look black at night.
I'd go with the Silver dials vs. black dials.

    Re: Pictures, please!

took this pic today, oh well might as well post it

    Re: Pictures, please!

I really like the white dials especially in a black interior. Looks very sporty. And otherwise it's too gloomy. It's true that sometimes you have a little bit difficulties to read it properly but it's absolutely tolerable.

And by the way these dials would cost a lot of money as an option. You would need some very good reasons to do it wihtout the white dials voluntarily. I don't see any.

    Colour tastes simply.
I have them on my 996, was so cool at first, I hate them now, look so cheap IMO!
I've gone with black dials for the 997S and got confirmed that the chrono will also be black.
It's really like ext. and int. colours honestly.
You can have them in all sorts of colours, which is cool.

I also had thoughts on whether I should've ordered the dials black, but I didn't think it would really make a big difference, so I left it. The white dials don't seem to bug me, so I'm happy

    Re: Pictures, please!

I originally wanted black dials on my 997S (blk/blk). But when I saw it in person, I decided to keep the stock aluminum gauges. And I'm happy that I did, because it looks better than I thought it would.

    Re: Pictures, please!

If you choose nonstandard face color, you MUST get confirmation that the sport chrono dial will be consistent. I saw an early 997 with speed yellow dials, but the sport chrono dial was still black - made the wart look even uglier.

I think if you get either black or silver dials you can get black or silver sports chrono to match. But if you order another color say yellow for instance you still only have a choice of black or silver sports chrono. I could be wrong but I dont think they are making the sports chrono in other colors cept black & silver.
Anyone know for sure on this ?

    Re: Pictures, please!

I ordrerd my black/black 'S' Coupé with black dials as well. I do hope that the Chrono will have a black dial too!
(Did not think about it when ordering - and the sales guy didn't mention anything in regard of this).

    Re: Pictures, please!

    Fear not, Tom.

When opting for black dials on S, chrono will be black also.

    Re: Pictures, please!

Remember, a black wart does not stick out as much a white wart

    Re: Pictures, please!

I orderd my 997S with the black dials. I have the grey all leather interior and the white gauges looked too cheap for my taste. I am glas that I did. Also the chrono looks better in black.

That's true. Sport Chrono dial will either be black or silver, no matter which colour you pick for the main dials. Surely looks weird IMHO.

Definitely weird....can they be serious with this?
PIC below taken directly from Porsche.com

(to be honest imho , even if the sport chrono gauge face was matching guards red-- would STILL be awful.
Red dials with Cocoa No No)
