    Finally Broke 200 at Texas Mile

    Been trying for several years. The car is a 996TT with a stock block and EVOMS bolt-ons.

    Unfortunately, humidity was literally 100% so my tape that I put over cracks got wet and came off very quickly. Luckily it turned out I didn't need it!

    How much would the humidity effect your run? Does it make a noticeable difference on the turbos?

    Humidity (water) crowds out oxygen for combustion in air so engines are less powerful in high humidity. But I was not complaining about that aspect. I was complaining that it made my adhesive tape wet so it fell off...  But if you need max power you want low humidity, low temp, and high barometric pressure.

    The software is called trackvision. (www.trackvision.net) It takes HD video and allows you to link it to files from all the major performance meters. I use the VBox Performance Box. You simply find a place in the video that you can identify the part of the performance file you are on (such as the start of the run or a gear change). You then can link the two files and choose a dashboard layout to display the speed data. If you have additional sensors to the data box such as rpm you can link those too. The software basically allows and entry level performance box to function as a 2000+US video VBox for about 1/4 the cost...

    Not a stupid question at all!! I actually have a lot to say about it so I hope you are really interested! LOL!!

    The runs are a standing mile on a ~1.5 mile (2400m) air strip. You have a half mile to get the speed down under control before a very sharp right hand turn. That seems like plenty of space except you gobble that up in less than 10 sec at 200 mph. So once you hit the mile marker your attention immediately needs to go to getting the car shut down.

    Additionally, my Performance Box data showed me I actually hit the limiter in 6th (7000rpm) at 201.64 mph right before I let off! LOL!  The reason that the official speed is not 201.6 but rather 200.9 mph goes back to how the speeds are measured at the event. They have two laser beams set up at the end of the mile. The first is ~130 ft before the end of the mile and the second is at the mile marker. Thus, the official speed is actually an average of the cars speed over the last 130 feet or so. 

    I was very disappointed that the PBox lost  satellite lock at the first of the run. I considered doing another run to get some pristine data but decided against it since the car is my DD and I had already run it to the limiter in 6 gears! LOL!

    Very Perceptive!! I wish I had installed a longer 6th gear but I did it the cheaper way. I raised the limiter from ~6700 to 7000...

    Thanks for explanation, this is really cool stuff your result looks stunning. Would be great if they could do this in the HD go pro '3'.
