Auto Zeitung used Sport Chrono ON during 997 Turbo measurements...
But, achived times are good... Here is the problem:
Auto Zeitung 11/2005
Porsche 996 Turbo S(450hp/620Nm)
0-100km/h: 4.1s
0-160km/h: 8.5s
0-200km/h:13.1s
Max: 307km/h
Weight: 1600kg
Same issue
BMW M6(507hp/520Nm)
0-100km/h: 4.5s
0-160km/h: 9.0s
0-200km/h:13.2s
Max: 305km/h(officially delimited version)
Weight: 1800kg
Auto Zeitung 7/2006
Mercedes SL55AMG(517hp/720Nm)
0-100km/h: 4.5s
0-160km/h: 8.9s
0-200km/h:13.0s
Max: 300km/h(AMG Code 030 delimiting)
Weight: 2000kg
Auto Zeitung 11/2006
Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder(520hp/510Nm)
0-100km/h: 4.3s
0-160km/h: 9.3s
0-200km/h:14.1s
Max: 314km/h
Weight: 1740kg
and finally
Auto Zeitung 12/2006
Porsche 997 Turbo(manual SC 480hp/680Nm)
0-100km/h: 3.9s
0-160km/h: 8.2s
0-200km/h:12.5s
Max: 310km/h
Weight: 1600kg
Apparently AWD cars gave great advantage till 160km/h but, after that...

BTW: The SL55 AutoZeitung tested was a "special" car again. A recent test in another German magazine yielded a 15.x for the SL55 with 517hp.

Autozeitung has stopped the Z06 at 13 sec. flat from 0-200 kph. The Gallardo SE tested for comparison did a 13.4 sec time. Considering this, I think 12.5 sec for the 997 Turbo is pretty good. The driver was Kurt Thiim, a well known swedish race driver and they tested both cars on the track (Lausitz Ring).
Btw.: we already discussed the Autozeitung results in an earlier thread which started a few days ago. And it isn't 100% if Sport Chrono was installed and/or used.

I just read on the ferrari board that Autozeitung misprinted the 0-200 kph time for the f430 they first printed 12.2 but actually it was 13.2. The turbo is .7 seconds faster to 200, impressive.

I didn't know that had been discused. What is the difference between a tuner powerkit and an ecu flash? I am assuming the powerkit would include ecu, exhaust, air filter etc and a flsh would be simply the ecu programing. I am thinking exhaust will be a crucial upgrade because of the lack of sound reported by most journalists. If the stock exhaust is so restrictive, it is possible that big gains could be made with an aftermarket system. This would be ideal as it would do nothing to harm reliability. What kind of gains do you think are realistic. How much power was gained by upgrading the 996tt exhaust?

All this talk about ultimate acceleration. Lets not forget the 997 only needs an ECU flash to make it even faster. There's no reason to believe that someone will not come out quickly with a program to extend the overboost beyond 10 seconds, which would lead to a much higher peak hp and acceleration beyond 100 mph
