Last rumor I heard about the GT4 RS (early 2021) said "500 hp or slightly less". So 470 hp could be possible but I guess not less. PDK is very likely, no clue about manual.

RC (Germany) - Rennteam Editor Lamborghini Huracan Performante (2019), Mercedes GLC63 S AMG (2020), Mercedes C63 S AMG Cab (2019), Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (2019 EU)

The Manual gearbox can only take 420NM of torque (they have electrically de-tuned the 2 previous GT4 motors to make this limit). Would not make sense with a more powerful motor to detune it to the same limit. The GT3 motor makes 470 NM...

Apparently introduction mid November; according to my sales guy a fairly limited production. I have put in a pre-order lets see what’s gone happen.

According to my sales guy, GT4 RS is going to be a very low volume car. Lower then then GT3 RS. There will not be many cars available to dealers.

Positioning is becoming silly at this point. Just make it a mid-engined GT3 and be done with it; give it the full 500HP.

Choice is supremely easy for me. Any car in production for Porsche I can have one, but I have no intention to ever buy a 992 GT3, but I have been patiently waiting for the GT4RS for a few years now.

There shouldn't be too many options on the GT4RS, perhaps a Weissach package with carbon hood, PCCB option as I believe it will come with steel, interior leather or race-tex trims, colours, badging and that's should be it.

Question for me is does it have an upgraded GT4 engine or a detuned GT3 engine. I love my GT4 but driving my bros GT3 over the weekend evidenced that that motor is on another level. Are there any production constraints on the GT3 engine?

No GT3 engine. It will be an uprated GT4 flat 6. Pricing is the issue.

Don't let the 'humble' GT4 flat 6 fool you, it's been race tested for 2 seasons now. Same can't be said of the GT3 one as I believe the Cup car isn't running the same engine.

The GT4 engine is nice and a good engine, but you always stay with a bit of a frustration once you know the GT3 engine. It just can't screem the same. It is a bit too polished. The GT3 one is raw.

And as to the Cup cars, I though it was exactly the opposite . New cup cars running the exact same engine as the GT3.

Anyway, I am looking very much forward to the introduction of the GT4RS - I mean, just the thought that Porsche started this mid-engine journey with a "girlish" car 15 years ago ... however, I am not sure whether the potential clients will just hopp on this RS thing ... the GT4 as such is already such an accomplishment (though, in a ranking certainly after the 981 GTS and with the exeption of a specific yellow GT4s with swiss number plates... smiley ) ... I would still hope, that the RS gets a front lift system...

The new GT4CS is now using a 4.0L...

I haven't paid close attention, but looks like the GT4 CS is still using a 3.8L, but now making 425hp according to this:

718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport | Porsche Motorsport Hub

However, I have seen the rumors that there is supposed to be a new homologation race car built on the 718 GT4 platform (this may or may not be a Clubsport) coming soon that is going to use a new ~500hp 4.0L motor. Some people claim this will be the 992 Cup motor (also basically same as engine used in the 992 GT3 road car with small changes to intake and exhaust), however, the specifications are intentionally vague so you can't tell if it's really the full-bore GT3 race engine with dry sump, separate oil tank, Ti conrods, racing valvetrain, etc or maybe an improved version of the 4.0L in the current GT4 road car.

I expect PDK only and proper gearing (but I guess it may also just inherit the PDK from the current GT4 which has fairly new but suboptimal gearing, maybe with a lower final drive).

How expensive can it be to make an alternative gearset? You'd think it would be a fairly standard thing to do for a gearbox manufacturer. Feels more like they don't want to give it one because it would upset the apple cart and take 911 sales.
