I heard the driver said a pelican got in the way, and then he dropped his cell phone. ...You'd think -for a million plus bucks -that the car would come with bluetooth??
I heard on CNBC that the driver claimed to have been distracted by a pelican, but what's that about dropping his cell phone??
So he was using his cell phone when driving his Veyron, but blames a pelican for distracting him and making him drop his cell phone and subsequently to crash his car?
If that is supposedly the story, then I would not be too surprised - or critical of the insurance company - if, in this instance, it refused to pay up.

It could be this scenario: He was cruising fast (it's a Veyron) talking to his GF on the cell, when all of a sudden he sees this pelican by the side of the road with this enormous fish in his beak. Being a passionate sports fisherman he is so awestruck and jealous that he dropped his platinum Vertu from his hand. Going: Oh shit please don't let me chip of the diamond from it, he reached for the Phone and turned "unconsciously" towards the pelican, causing the poor creature to loose his lunch but get away with its life in the nick of time!
I'm sure insurance will believe it...

It does seem a remarkable coincidence that there was a video camera filming just as a Veyron drives into a lake...
...could it be the result of a sudden steering failure brought on by a catastrophic drop in residual values?
...or maybe it's Jeremy Clarkson demonstrating his driving talents for the new series of Top Gear?

Word on the street is:
Owner first remained anonymous and claimed a low flying pelican obstructed his view which caused the accident. He has now been identified as Andy House, the owner of Performance Auto Sales in Lufkin. His company restores wrecked exotics which makes you wonder if this was all just a publicity stunt. Unfortunately for him someone caught the accident on camera which doesn't show any pelican flying by... someones got some explaining to do.
indeed shifting is ancient technology - so is a fuel burning engine.. I happen to like both :)

I got this emailed yesterday !!!, what a pain to watch !!!!....
I wonder if the engine is a total loss, or it can be fixed???
, like janus said, insurance is going to love it !!!!
If I was in that situation and the engine couldn't be fixed at all i'd take it out and put it in my living room as decor. how many people can say they have a Veyrons engine in display at home.
