    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    Something more to add.

Max won despite he didn't hit Hamilton on turn 1.

Perhaps he finally learn that to win a race he first has to finish. He might have lose out a position to Hamilton by yielding there, but his Red Bull crew are second to none, their top notch strategy planning got him back to the lead without much trouble. Maybe this will be the new Max, he finally learn something, instead of focusing on battles, he focus on the war.

He has the faster car all day, once the pit stops started he isn't stuck behind Hamilton anymore and he can run in clean air to lay down quick laps after laps. and after the final rounds of pit stops he has a good 8 seconds lead with 19 laps to go that he can relax a bit and baby the tires for a while to defend against Hamilton at the end, which he did so perfectly, He didn't panicked in the closing stage and used up his tires for nothing. He had been saving them until Hamilton got to around 2 second behind and only then he finally start pushing. Even then he didn't even have to go 100%, just barely fast enough to keep a nice gap. A very good way to save his engine for the rest of the season. Hamilton never got close enough to mount a challenge at all.

Apart from one track limit infraction today, Max drove a picture perfect race. A stroll in the park so to speak.

Typical blunderbuss from you once again.  As explained before, the change in the lead was never in doubt in that race; however, there was the anticipation of a real battle, though it didn’t quite materialize in final turns. Sorry, one can’t help you, if you fail to comprehend the differences.

Mad Max showed maturity and class.

Between the Merc and the RB, hardly anything in it.

Definitely. He kept his cool at the start and didn't panic.

Drove a text book race with passing done on pitstops delta, no drama on track.

Technical analysis on the Mercedes sinking rear end. As usual, Mercedes operate well within the regulations, they don't go to the grey area like their rivals do.

Good view of the final turn for the last half of the race. Flood of people after the race was amazing!  Wife on pole position to close it out. Four hour traffic jam ahead …. Sparing all the amazing pics of the Giga Texas nearby.

Kaku has style!  She's one cool lady. I'm looking forward to next years Miami race, almost certain it will be my first F1 race.

Giant smiles from her for your post!  She just bought herself that red LV Alma after passing a difficult professional exam/ certification.  Hope to be in Miami as well.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Great experience. That feels quite like things are back to normal now.

I have ever only done a Formula 1 race once, in Montreal. Great atmosphere. But for me at least, it's not enough, even when it's a 3 day event. It's such a let down that the race itself is only a couple hours max.

I much prefer Le Mans, done that 3 times and it's very different feeling when it's a 24 hour straight racing.

Can’t wait to go back to Montreal but viewing is very limited. Go for the nightlife - many of you know my weakness there.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Thinking of going to Austin next year and leave Miami till the following. What seat section did you go to and would you book that area again?

    Thanks

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Turn 12 is great - you will see the most passing there. I was in turn 15 Saturday which shows a lot of the track but not much passing at that point. Next year I might look at the far end of the track by turn 9 or so because it is so quick there. Overall the Austin Track has many good vantage points.  GA was a zoo this year because there really was no one checking tickets at the entry. Tens of thousands used screen prints from their friends phones to simply walk in because they were not scanning just eyeballing the phones.  Get your tickets early. They will be sold out fast.
If you go early for a good spot and bring some comfortable chairs etc a day in GA can be amazing.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

I have been to 3 grand prix races.  Twice Monaco and once Monza. Atmosphere was always great, but following the race is crap. And you actually don't see very much, specially in Monaco. Only the little bit in front of you.

So yes, a live GP is nice for the general atmosphere but to follow the race, TV is 100% better.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

I used to go to Phoenix- Ayrton!  Then a few Montreal but Eric is right and at Montreal the level of drugs and booze incredible

now that espn shows the races w no ads and infinite cameras it’s great to tube out in front of the fire in my study/

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

That is the case with most sports: the TV coverage is orders of magnitude better than watching in person. Tennis, any form of auto racing, soccer, football, you name it.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

I don't know, in person in an American Football game, I can focus on the cheerleaders, on TV coverage the TV focused on the boring on field action and forgot about the best part of the game, those lovely cheerleaders.

So weird that the refs don't call fouls when the players uses their hands to touch the ball, especially when the game is called football, not handball. Completely counterintuitive.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    and back to F1 news.

So it would seems that the recent good form of Ferrari is due to them finally moving onto the 800V system. First on Leclerc's car in Russia and then Sainz's car at the Turkish GP. They are the last to abandon the ancient 400V system.

The 800V gave Ferrari a much more efficient hybrid system, enabling them to harvest and deploy the hybrid power better, and let them close up to and perhaps surpass McLaren.

    They are on 800V.

Good point Whoopsy re TV American football coverage; the cheerleaders are almost never shown. I wonder why...

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

Because the people who paid to go to the game in person actually want to be there, but the rest of the world might just stumble upon the game as then flip through channels and run the risk of someone getting offended 🙄. It’s 2021 after all.

As to not offend anyone, the grid girls in F1 have been taken away 2 or 3 years ago. Smiley

Weird thing is that it's ok for TV to see grown men grouping each other and punching each other bloody and silly on UFC, but it's not ok to see woman dress up nicely and be very presentable. 🙄

I like that UFC doesn't give a crap about PC, they even have ring girls... not that I care about ring girls but still.

Hypocrisy at it's finest, let's virtue signal against grid girls to appease some ugly feminists but continue to promote and cooperate with countries to host and benefit from GPs where human rights are constantly violated and women are severely discriminated and repressed.

    Re: [2021] Formula 1

    Mexico this weekend.

Red Bull is expected to lead the way, they have the fastest car and also the circuit and altitude is well suited to the Red Bull package on top.

If Perez is leading, will Horner instruct him to give way to Max if Max happens to be running 2nd to him?

What if Hamilton is close behind Max and there isn't clear room for the switch? Will Red Bull still try and risk Perez dropping the 3rd in the process just so Max can have the win?

Now if the switch do happened, Mexican fans will not be pleased at all with the team.

Another good story line, could McLaren catch up to Ferrari?
