White cars are cool. My spidey sense tells me that white is the new silver...
In fact, I reckon flat, non-metallic colours are coming back into fashion. Check the latest Lambo baby blues and greys - and the rumours of some 'special' colours on the forthcoming GT3RS. Say 'hello' to mint green, maritime blue et al.
The 997 looks great in white - although if you are planning to keep the car for a short period then I guess you should give it a miss.
