    Speeding tickets. Any dodging tips?

    Folks, my girlfriend has just been caught for the 2nd time in 1 month doing 36 in a 30 mph. I don't condone speeding in residential areas, but she IS a careful and safe driver and I just think she has been unlucky.

    Does anybody have any experience or sound advice on how to get around the UK system on any technicalities? I have heard that claiming you weren't driving the car is the way forward, becasue they have to prove you were.

    Any hints or tips appreciated.

    By the way, my license is clean (so far), that may change come October though!

    On the past two occassions where I have received a Fixed Penalty Notice I have asked family to take my points and each time, after they have submitted their admission of guilt, it has not been followed up and they have got no points!

    I think that as they have to process more paperwork they give up when you say "it was not me it was....".

    If you can talk someone else into taking the points I would wager that they will not get the points.

    You can always try friends / family abroad with a UK license. I know of people who have done this when 10+ mph over the limit and heard nothing more. Again probably due to the extra paper work in processing.

    I've mentioned it on here before - there's a dealer here in NY that specializes in "cloaking" your vehicle. You may want to contact them and ask if they know anyone that can do the same in London.

    It basically consists of a Valentine One intergrated into the rear view mirror (including all indicators) with nothing hanging from your windshield; K40 laser jammers in the front license plate frame (or under the front bumper if you don't have a license plate on the front) and rear license plate frame. For the first year I believe, K40 pays any speeding tickets you may incur - from what I am told by various friends with this, they have never gotten caught, of course - if you blatantly overtake a cop then that's your own fault. But, I hope this helps.

    You may wanna consider the fact that the Police might impound your car and confiscate your jammer if they cant measure your speed. They do so in Denmark, so the jammer is only good for one single speeding.

    There's some websites that give advice on this, not got any bookmarked though. I remember reading one advocating writing a letter with some legal wording which they claim usually results in them not bothering seeing it through.

    I don't think laser jammers are legal in the UK.
    Also many of the patrol cars on UK motorways are unmarked cars, so can be tricky to spot.

    Thanks for all the info. I have to agree that I had heard the 'it wasn't me driving' route woould be the most successful. 'll have to see.

    By the way, laser jammers in the UK are illegal and the Rozzers will most likely pull you over and check the car out. It may also be in a few months that laser detection equip will be illegal, depending on a new road traffic bill being pushed through Parliment.

    I just think she is unlucky to be caught by another mobile camera at 36 mph in less than 4 weeks. Poor cow.

    How come these a'holes doing 55 in a 30 never seem to get caught?

    Sorry - I totally forgot to think about whether it was legal in London - here in New York, radar jammers are illegal, but laser jammers are not....

    Can you give me the link of where you talked about this before or send me more information about how this works, price, and possible other locations that do this sort of installation? (I live in Maryland) Sounds like a great addition to any Porsche owner. Thanks
