Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

I am on my second iPod (currently the photo version) and I love them. There must be some way to apply pressure/assistance to Porsche for them to join the bandwagon (like even Ferrari and volvo!!) and provide native support (retro fit-able obviously). What is it? RC any ideas?

How about just an Aux input for starter....come on!

XM or Siri support would be nice too! (US only obviously!) But one thing at a time so let's make it the iPod! (Don't want to overload Porsche and distract them from making really good driver cars first too much)

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

looks like Dension has a compatible device for Porsche now.
Check out their site on dension.com

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

    Thats very interesting.
Is there a way to connect one of those MP3 hard drives to post 2003 Porsche's? it says its compatible with pre-2003 Porsche Becker units through the factory CD changer conection but not for post-2003's Is there any third party CD interface port adaptors for the 997 to be able to conect it? FM emitors are too poor quality.

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

    Hey FANCH... read this...

    Code: F_Porsche_Fiber
    Price:$399.00

    Product is not yet available.

    Development is currently under consideration.

The ultimate iPod car connector kit for PORSCHE with fiber optic radio system.
    Planned Compatibility
    CDR 23, PCM (Navigation system)

This kit is not yet available, and release date will depend upon interest.
You may express your interest by clicking on the Add to Wait List link and supplying your email address. We will notify you on development plans as they become available

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

join the waiting list..... if enough people sign up they will work faster in getting it done. Apparently the fiber optics in the newer models has been a bit tough to crack. I got this email from dension and after a futher follow up the promised a late spring availability

"Unfortunately, the Ice link will not support the Porsche 2005 997 radio at this time. We are working on a kit for your application in the meantime. "

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

I got the same crappy generic email when I requested info from them. It's really unhelpfull and makes you wonder how far they have actually got in the whole process. The waitlist is pretty bogus as well....I think one member got a couple hundred to sign up. I don't think it's a function of market demand, more to do with their development capabilites

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

definately true.... however, with limited funds that they must have, why spend it developing a Porsche integration given the few amout of cars available compared to other vehichles on the road. If they had enough interest i'm sure they'd get to work and make sure it was available. Either that or the CEO should get a Porsche... that way im sure we'd have the kit

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

Porsche are not the only users of the MOST system. Mercedes-Benz, and BMW as well, use it for their current range of cars. I think that there's no denison link for them as well.

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

they've 'planned' on making one for the 2003 fiber optic porsche system SINCE the system came out

in 2003 i had over 200 people sign up for their list.

they aren't making one because they don't know how, not because there sint enough interest, or a market for such a device.

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

I've been told by a reputable source that there is a March launch at an automotive audio show of the Icelink for the MOST Bus CD input on the Porsche 987 and 997 audio eqipment. After one myself

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

    Ideally
I'd like the Dennison system...it looks like the most elegant solution.....However, their credibility is really starting to wear thin. I'm looking at another system just in case Denison don't produce the goods...It's the idrive by hebe styling...see link below....It uses 'hardwired FM'...It's definately a workaround but there really aren't any alternatives at the moment (I don't classify itrip as a workaround....it's next to useless in a city) I contacted them, and a bunch of units have gone out to reviewers....So I guess we'll know in a few days if it's any good.

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

I received an email from one of their distributors today (I'll keep them anonymous out of respect) That Denison have a successful working Beta of the ICElink with a Porsche MOST PCM system. Furthermore he confirmed that they will be demoing the product at the Car & Sound fair in Early April.....Lets hope the wait is nearly over!!!

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

not so fast jfraser. Got this email today!!!

We have a working prototype of the Mercedes-Benz MOST model, not on the Porsche - this is still in development.

We are told that the kit should be available in June of 2005. As progress moves, we will know more information on the release date and its features.

    Best Regards,

Re: Must be a way to get Porsche to support iPod integration

    Can't wait,

This is the email I received

    Hi jason,

Unfortunately no additional official informations are availible regarding the porsche-most adapter- But to give you some good news- beta test are running successfull so we expect working models at Car & sound fiar in early april.

Seems pretty clear to me.....we'll know in the next 4 weeks where they are. Don't know about you, I can wait (although I don't want to) What's important is some form of verification that this isn't vaporware.

BTW is Denison a US or European Company?
