    Tire pressure monitor calibration?

    My tire pressure monitor appears to be reading about 6 lpounds low on all 4 tires. I have double checked my external gauges. Has anyone else had false readings on their tire pressure monitors? Does anyone know the fix? Until it is fixed, the warning light stays on and is annoying!

    Is there anything in the owner's manual regarding this? In the BMW there is an initialization process you go through to get the TPMS to read correctly after you inflate the tires to their proper pressure. (You hold the TPM button down until the dashboard warning light goes out.) The main difference in the two systems as I see it is that the BMW doesn't give you a digital readout for each tire. Don't know if this helps you.

    lexus has similar initialization system....i bet theres a way but not quick and easy....i.e. dealer visit

    Good News! Check out the 997 Board under "Tyre Replacement with TPMS" There is a link to the complete instructions on how to calibrate your system. It looks like it might also be in your owners manual.

    I would be grateful if someone can confirm "calibration" can _actually_ be accomplished on a DIY basis.

    My readings have always been 3-4 lbs off. I gave up trying to calibrate them myself; if I remember correctly neither the owner's manual nor the Beru website explain how to calibrate them for accuracy.

    Is it true that only the dealer can do it?

    As written on the BERU page and in the Porsche RDK description, this can be done on DIY base. Just follow the guidelines in the RDK menu of the on-board computer. There is an entry for setting the reference pressures.

    same, 4lbs low...the lexus recalibration system is quick and easy
