    New GT Silver 997S

    Hi all.

    My new GT Silver 997S arrived last week! I ordered it in June and Tom McAfee and the staff at Stevens Creek Porsche in San Jose were fantastic throughout the entire process.

    So far, it's a phenomenal machine and definitely a step up from my previous M3. The fun factor is worlds above the M3 and even my BMW M Coupe which I really enjoyed.

    My Specs:
    U2 - GT Silver Metallic (has to be seen in person - it's stunning!)
    405 - Carrera Classic wheel
    AT - Black full leather (soooo nice)
    342 - Heated front seats
    P01L - Adaptive sport seats, leather interior (Fantastic!!)
    680 - Bose High end sound package
    267 - Self-dimming mirrors
    640 - Sports Chrono package plus
    670 - Navigation for PCM
    482 - TPMS
    X54 - Chrome exhaust tips
    666 - PCM phone option

    The side markers have already been changed for clears and, thanks to 1080i's help on Rennlist, the V1 is hard-wired and ready for the trip to Laguna Seca this weekend!

    I'll post a more comprehensive review and better pics soon! Thanks to everyone for their help during my waiter phase!

    Love your car, especially the color, but I just can't help saying, I hate those BUMPERETTES!!!!!

    Do you get fined in US if you do no "install" them?
    If not, US folks, get rid of those ugly things

    Niiiice But I still love my M3

    Congratulations and I'm glad to hear the wait is over.

    My S has got 2500 miles on it now and the initial thrill has worn off a bit. I kept my 04M3 with SMG and gotta say I think that car is..., sorry guys..., a bit faster. Sorrrrrry. I don't like it either. One thing that's working against me is the 911 engine starts screaming while the M3 is comparatively very quiet. I tend to back off maybe on the Carrera, yet totally floor the M3 with no hesitation. It's funny because I just want to pass other cars like lightning, not "destroy" them while doing so. The apparent loudness of the engine is a turn off in this context.

    This really is my favourite colour... but i couldn't bring up that much money for the colour

    Beautiful ride. I was just at Stevens Creek Porsche a half hour ago, drooling over the CGT on the showroom floor, in addition to those beautiful '06 S's.. Love your specs, and just for the record I am very jealous of everyone who has the full leather interior and adaptive sport seats (the two options I wish I got). Congratulations, life is good

    Thanks for all of your comments! Porker, I agree about the bumperettes. I wonder if Eric has any bumperette plugs in the works?

    Yes, the adaptive seats are fantastic! I feel better after a drive with them than before I started. I still can't figure out the coin-holder though. Is this thing supposed to be useful?

    Hey MMD, maybe if you had gotten sport chrono, your 997 would feel faster than your M3. Seriously, I understand what you mean - the feel of the 997 was just completely different for me from the M3. But, that is one reason I decided against the PSE.

    I've been eyeing that CGT st Stevens Creek for a while. There was a flashy guy there checking it out when I was picking up my 997. He arrived in a Lambo with a rather "enhanced" girl on his arm to watch as he tried to play tough-guy with the sales staff. My bet was that at least the car was a rental.

    In this day and age of computer-aided design he'd just have to scale up a pair of bumper plugs on the tube and he's done.

    Nice all-or-nothing logic. I was tired and annoyed and wondering why all of a sudden I'm not appreciating the "fake" engine sound the engineers worked so hard to put into the car. Other times I don't mind it, a few times I like it.

    I agree. When I watch any documentaries on car design and production, it still amazes me how much effort goes into "design" of the exhaust note.

    The most recent example of this focused on the Corvette. They had teams of people designing and tuning for the "right sound" of the exhaust. Meanwhile, the engineers couldn't figure out why the rear hatch of the car couldn't be closed unless the doors were open.
