    997 Carrera 4 Coupes

    Hello does anyone know why Porsche has stopped painting the brake calipers on Carrera 4 coupes and cabriolet's Silver? I noticed since the 997 Carrera 4 coupe came out for first generation 997 that they have been all black like the standard C2.

    Standard (non-S) models have black calipers, S-versions have red ones and PCCB is yellow. Smiley

    Rossi, when did Porsche change this? all Carrera 4 models from the 993-996 had Silver painted calipers, and of course all S models had red , and the Carrera's had black.

    AFAIK they've introduced this new colour sheme with the 997.

    Sorry to distract this thread but something occurred to me recently when I was looking at the breadth of the 911 range:

    997 C2 Coupe/Cab
    997 C2S Coupe/Cab
    997 C4 Coupe/Cab
    997 C4S Coupe/Cab
    997 T4
    997 T4S
    997 TT Coupe/Cab
    997 GT2
    997 GT3

    It's a wide model range for 911s. Some might think it is too broad. But given that the changes between each model seem quite easy for PAG to roll out - and thereby maximise the return on their investment by appealing to yet another market segment (that might otherwise not be captured), I can see why PAG has tried to create all these types of 997.

    However, the question that occurred to me was this: do many people actually buy the 997 C4 Coupe/Cab and the 997 T4?

    I have never seen a 997 C4 Coupe/Cab or a 997 T4 on the road in the UK (or elsewhere).

    Are these particular models unnecessary?

    I don't think so. There are people, who don't always want the top engine version of a car (like me Smiley ) but are satisfied with the "standard" engine. And with 345 hp you surely don't have to hide nowadays. Especially when it comes to the topless version and to the Targa models as well, I can understand people who are only opting for the "small" engine.

    Also in many markets taxation is based on engine size and emissions and consumers want to save this cost.

    Moreover, 4WD, cabrios and targas are often driven by people who are not interested in performance as much, so the smaller engine suffices. I know some people in my country,that is generally dry, that buy the 4WD models because they wouldn't feel secure with the rear engine, rear drive. These people are too happy with the 3.6 engine.

    Performance is pretty high on my priority list, but my geography and circumstances make the Targa the best fit for me.  I would have loved to be able to have purchased a Targa S.   Smiley

    Over here i mostly see C4 and C4S Smiley

    Even though the basic CS coupe is my #1 choice it's the most rare 911 over here in my area. There's more targa's...
