First GT2 RS's arrive at my dealer

Took these photos the other day. Car is very nice in person and I like the unpainted carbon bits dispite some of the criticism.

Re: First GT2 RS's arrive at my dealer

So which one is yours, Mike?

Oh wait, I guess both. Smiley

In white its perfect with the carbon bits, save the "gold" wheels though... I'd paint those black.

Re: First GT2 RS's arrive at my dealer

Yep, white with carbon bits and matte painted rims. Would be just fine for me.

Today, since my 997 Turbo lease runs out next spring, I did some lease calculations regarding a GT3 and GT3 RS (not even GT2 RS). In the process I realized that I won't be able to afford anymore such a fun car which will be used on weekends only. I actually planned to start track racing again next year, just for fun with some friends but in the end, I think that this idea of mine will be put on halt by the cost of a really good track car like the GT3 or GT3 RS. Sad...

Maybe the 991 Carrera S will be as good as some rumors suggest, so I won't need to go for the GT3 but in the end, it is always the GT3/GT3 RS I'm going to want, if I can afford it or not. The Turbo doesn't make sense anymore for me since I can't drive it to work and it is too sad to have it sitting in the garage all the time. Life is tough.

I rather like it just like that, I think the gold wheels give it an interesting touch since they're not a blingy gold but a more subtle one.

    Indeed, which one is yours?

I find the matte elements less obtrusive on the plain-coloured cars. It does stand out on the highly reflective silver and on the black one, providing two different grades of relection. Nonetheless, the car itself is awesome... Smiley

Re: First GT2 RS's arrive at my dealer

Hahaha, neither are mine. My order is only going into build in Nov/Dec. I ordered guards red

Re: First GT2 RS's arrive at my dealer

    0-160kph under 9.0 sec ?

Re: First GT2 RS's arrive at my dealer

I only got the 0-100 and 0-200 kph testing figures, they can change slightly since current test cars are not standard production cars but the performance goal (scratch book) for the final car is very similar.  I was also pleased to hear that the dynamic engine mounts will very likely make it to the 991 Carrera...optional of course...Porsche still wants to make money.  Also pleased about a very likely larger rear passenger room, especially head room will improve slightly (don't worry...no Panamera phenomenon here...).

So 100-200kph will be about 1 second slow the actual GT3

Sorry dont want to highjack the thread and you may this better than me, but one of the first 911s to race was the car from Herbert Linge who came 5th in the 1965 rally Monte Carlo Rally in a red 911 SWB. that was a factory entry. My understanding that the first few years many cars were red. Hence red is a Porsche color which was the above comment. Also agree that red may not be the most popular color for the GT2RS but I actually like it.

Indischrot / Guards red was also a very popular colour in the late 80s / early 90s particularly, but somehow lost favour in the "noughties".

Totally agree - I had three P-cars in guards red between 1985 -1993..

If Porsche cars could ever be termed ubiquitous...it was red cars during that period and shortly after.

This is the main reason I recently turned down a good deal on a guards red 997.2 PDK, which incidentally still hasn't been sold by the dealer!!

To my mind, sports cars have to be either black, red or white.  I've had my fill of red, my current car is black, so the obvious choice for my next car will be white...

I'm not sure why that particular car was painted red. It could have something to do with it being a rally car (pure speculation on my part)., but as the old saying goes: "One swallow does not a spring make."

BTW - Herbert Linge was known as the man responsible for creating Porsche's competition department at Zuffenhausen.

He was also offered a job (by Porsche) in 1949 as employee number one.

He was also one hell of a driver , often being just as quick as the regular racing drivers. Or even quicker. The most famous example came in 1962 when he was testing the new 804 F1 car at the Nürburgring. He hated single-seaters with a vengeance, but still he managed to put egg on the face of Jo Bonnier, who couldn't get it to lap faster than the old 718. Linge could. Then lead driver Dan Gurney had a go and beat Linge's time with a blindingly fast lap at scary speeds. Later, Gurney would admit to Linge why he was so quick that day. "Because I was scared stiff that you would do to me what you did to Bonnier."

Please accept my apologies for the hijack to the thread.1284528144020cheers.gif
