    PCCB Countrywink

    After the steel brake/lift car, the PCCB/no lift car suspension feels stiffer, more alert and more agile.  Can anyone else attest to that impression?  

    Since the RS Mag wheels don't fit, does anyone know of a light wheel recommendation [that's reasonably robust] for GT3 and the weight savings vs the stock wheel?

    Let's start from the beginning. Do you have one or two .2GT3's? My impression is you had one with steel brakes and in NZ. That one had a lift problem and was in for service. Now you're saying you have one with PCCB's and no lift. Totally confused (with me its easy to doSmiley).yes

    This is the US car indecision

    Watt - check out BBS FI-R. Very nice.. not cheap, but the best weight savings out there without being very exotic.

    I can certainly attest to light wheels contributing to that feeling. Made a huge difference when I swapped the Boxster wheels for light ones. Interestingly, I didn’t notice as much difference when I put them on the PCCB Boxster. Still a small improvement though. Probably due to the mass for the wheels being lost further from the centre of rotation than that of the PCCBs.

    not sure if the lift is heavy enough to notice a difference. The wheels and brakes however...

    Someone had the lift mechanism out recenty - was 9KG or something. I’d challenge anyone to notice that in sprung weight.

    OZ super forgiatas are also nice and very light. All depends on taste of course.

    They are probably around in the same ball park as the optional mag wheels for the RS. They are  from the same manufacturer, just different size/offset to fit the GT3. In combination with the PCCB they should be a considerable performance improvement as you decrease unsprung weight a lot. So better damping, more responsive steering and better acceleration. If they are worth the price one has decide for themselves.

    For durability, nothing beats OEM Porsche wheels. They have to go though more vigorous testing than just about everything else.

    I would rank the BBS second, simply because of of the BBS reputation. They had bene making wheels for a long time and they are OEM to many, so they know their stuff. I had a set of BBS FI for my 997 Turbo before.

    HRE would rank 3rd on this list, nothing against them but they are up against a couple stiff competitors. However, they would be the only 'boutique' wheel maker I would ever trust, over ANYBODY else that makes wheels, I would probably even put them over OZ, Enkei. Think they are the only boutique wheel maker that went through the trouble of obtaining TUV certificate for their wheels.

    Don't forget Forgeline.  Their competition series made good lightweight forged racing wheels.  I got a set of GA1R and GA3R for my RS for dry and wet track tires respectively.

    By reputation they should be good, but it's so new and scarce and untested yet. 

    Plus, it only fits Turbo/Turbo S. Wheels offsets are for AWD wide body cars. Not even sure if they will fit C4S.

    Finally heard from Manthey:

    "Unfortunately, due to law and warranty reasons we are not selling to the US"

    So BBS most likely.  When Sun was still in Malibu, he bent badly a factory rear and front on the C2S Cab 991.1, so there lissome risk involved going lightersmiley

    MSRP $17500/set.  Not too bad.  But no Satin Aluminum finish - only black n "Titanium" [darker than Porsche Platinum], really stupid decision
