    GT2 Production numbers

    Does any one know how many ROW and US GT2's were produced in 2002,2003?

    Acciording to a CSFB research report (all years from Aug 1 - July 31):
    2001 192
    2002 690
    2003 500
    2004E 400

    The guys normally have a good insight.

    It's not good insight, it's public information, it's in the annual report... except for FY 02/03 were there is no mention of the GT2.

    I believe it's between 400 and 450 units for FY 02/03 of which between 175 and 200 units sold in the US.

    As I suspected, the CGT will be no more 'exclusive' than the GT2. I'm waiting 'til the price goes under $250K US

    I don't see the CGT price drop below $350 k US until the year 2006 when the production ends. I wouldn't buy a CGT as an investment but I think it'll keep it's value much better than the GT2.

    why do you think there's no market for gt2's? i find them an incredible performance bargain, and will probably buy my 3rd one later this year... strang int it that noone wants them?

    a new 03 is 145-150US

    Used GT2 with low mileage sell at bargain prices over here in Germany, usually under the price tag of a new 996 Turbo with almost no options.

    The GT2 has two "problems":
    1. it is turbo charged and has no 4WD, making it pretty difficult to drive fast, especially for unexperienced drivers
    2. there are no Porsche Motorsport special parts available because Porsche doesn't race the GT2

    I agree that the GT2 is a fantastic sports car, especially in the right hands. But the GT3, especially the new version and especially the GT3 RS, are equally good, if not better because they're a bit less challenging, making them easier to be driven fast on the track.

    The overworked GT2 has some improvements but I think the GT2 is still a little bit overpriced.

    Previously posted GT 2 production numbers for USA were 164 for 2002 and 64 for 2003 and between 10 and 20 for 2004. What is the source for your information? The fact that not everyone can drive them well, is what makes them alluring to me. The fact that the car requires some actual driver input and skill I find refreshing in todays traction control, driver assisted, paddle shifter ,world !!!!! The fact that a computer is not there to save you is exciting and to me where the thrill is in driving such a car. With the GT 2 at speed it's just you and the car, the way it used to be and still should be.

    Here are some official numbers for SALES to CUSTOMERS in the US+Canada:

    CY 02 (Calendar Jan-Dec) : 194 units
    CY 03 (Calendar Jan-Dec) : 94 units.

    I agree for FY 03/04, 400 seems pretty pushy.

    Eric, Those numbers look closer to whats been reported by several sources. Has anyone asked PCNA for this information?

    PCNA does give from time to time a breakdown of sales by models...

    This is how I figured it out.

    As far as European sales, I don't know how you can find them.
