Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

    Hi :-)
    Back again to rennteam
I've got a little question which sometimes frustrates me..
Why whenever a new car comes out people compare it with the power of the Cayenne Turbo and even bid that it would beat it from 0-100? My friend's friend owns a Super-Charged GMC Sierra and he claims that he can beat a cayenne turbo.. Well.. Luckily.. I've met that guy on the road last night.. I have a Mercedes ML 500 (Waiting for the new CT ).. The traffic light was red.. I didnt even know that he wanted to race.. When the lights went green, I saw him Speed and I sped too although I didn't switch the Gear to the Tiptornic mode (which makes a big difference in the power)... I was amazed that I could catch up with him until 80 or 90 km and then he started to move away from me but slightly.. I can't find an explanation for that since there's a big difference between CT's power and my ML 500... I still didn't tell my friend about it.. But.. Can a SC-GMC Sierra really beat a cayenne turbo?! They claim that it does because it is lighter in weight than the CT.. When we first heard of Audi Q7, everyone as usual claimed that it would beat a cayenne turbo, as we said when we heard about the Super-Charged Range Rover...
I really love the cayenne turbo but whenever I hear stories like that it gets me down a bit.. Explanations would be grateful..
    Thanks :-)

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

I'm pretty sure the CT will own the GMC anyday. There are many competitors that are starting to catch up in terms of power with the newer models. Trust me if your ML can keep up with it more or less, the CT will OWN it! Also remember the options that are taken with the CT. For example: I have the pano-roof on mine and that thing weighs a lot, Which will affect the car's power. etc.

All in all the CT is still safe(well at least untill the ML63 comes out, then we will have to see)

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

Yes, if you were able to keep up to him in your ML 500, there will be no contest with the CT, you will absolutely blow him away.
The CT is still THE SUV IMO.

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

oh no, GMC will flip over above 40mph lol, sorry I just have to do it

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

how much does a "regular" CT weigh?
because a regular cab, 2wd Sierra weighs 4211 lbs

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

    Thanks all for the briefing
I was planning to buy a Sierra.. One of my friends told me "Are you stupid? Your father is offering u a porsche and u want a sierra?" lol...
sdy284 The cayenne turbo is almost 2400 kg..:)

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

What supercharged GMC Sierra are we talking about? I was not aware GMC offered a supercharged model. Is this an aftermarket supercharger? Just curious.

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

Austin... Sierra isn't delivered from GMC supercharged.. Its an aftermarket supercharger

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

Aftermarket! Well, that's wide open then. Who knows what that GMC Sierra is capable of. It all depends on who did the work and what was installed. I think the stock horsepower on the 6.0 liter GMC motor is around 345 (ext. or crew cab only, BTW). Most supercharger installations would only offer modest horsepower increases over that. Lingenfelter offers the biggest power boost I've seen for the GMC; 500 hp. Car and Driver tested a 475 hp Lingenfelter and did a 13.3 sec quarter mile at 102 mph. When they tested the Cayenne Turbo they got a 13.5 sec quarter at 104 mph.

Of course this is straight-line testing. I don't think anyone would even consider comparing handling characteristics of these two vehicles they're so different. The Cayenne is probably more off-road capable as well. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, if you really need more power in the Cayenne Turbo, there's always the Powerkit.

Re: Cayenne Turbo Vs Super-Charged GMC Sierra?

Sorry RC, there is no Supercharged GMC in Germany, maybe next time when you go to US, I will lend you the CTT
