    Options for C2S MY09

Hi, finally have an opportunity to post on this forum as I am about to place an order for a C2S. A few questions that I would appreciate help with
    1) I am leaning towards the standard S suspension, not the 20mm drop. The salesman in Dubai says that the -20mm suspension is too unforgiving. Your thoughts?
    2) The sports steering does not have the multifunction option, does anyone miss this. I have to opt for the "thicker" sports wheel in order to get the red contrast stitching (the entire interior will be black with red stitching). Is the thicker sports wheel comfortable or overkill?
3)thinking of adding 5mm (F) and 17mm (R) wheel spacers. are these a waste of money, can anyone spot the difference?
4)want the PSE, is this the same exhaust as on the previous version re looks and sound?
    Cheers

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

standard suspension will be just fine. on harsh roads the -20 can get annoying.
padded wheel is nice. not much thicker than standard wheel.
no need for spavers.car looks good as is....
no idea if pse is the same. might be better, as i heard the dfi engines sound a bit diesel like....

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

I don't have MFSW on my car - it's the only thing I miss after driving my wagon.

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

Standard PASM feels good, Sport mode does firm things up nicely. Unless you plan on tracking it, standard PASM is good enough (my 2p).

The stock exhaust sounds good under acceleration, I imagine the PSE will add to the whole experience. I certainly will be reviewing it when it appears next year.

    Cheers!

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

    My thoughts just to confuse....

    1. -20mm is fine with me and you get a diff lock - great!
    2. Can't help.
    3. Will look great - you can see the difference
    4. No PSE for me as early order - still sounds good

    Good luck!!

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

Hi, Liquid, I'm also in Dubai. When did you order? When have you been promised delivery? Have the cars come in for a test drive yet? I placed my deposit in July, not yet been asked to spec the car. Re: your questions:

    1) Will you be coming to the Autodrome with the PCUAE? If so, then the -20mm will shave off some time on the track. If not, then don't bother with the -20. (I'm not going to bother with -20 because I'm already worried about the PASM ride quality after my standard suspension'd Boxster!)
    2) MFSW - the dashboard of the car is well within reach so as not to bother with MFSW. Also, check out properly which functions come on the new steering wheel and whether those buttons will really reduce your reaching for the dashboard, especially since the new PCM has got touchscreen!. I have it for my Boxster S, and now hardly use it.
    3) Spacers - once again, if you're tracking your car, then it would be of some benefit. Looks wise, it will only be noticeable to someone who has it on their car, not to a casual onlooker.
    All the best!
    Arshad

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

Sorry, forgot about your last question - IMHO - the PSE is an ABSOLUTE necessity - you don't want an M5 (or M3 for that matter!) sounding better than your new 911, do you?!!! Why it doesn't come as standard is beyond me - this is a SPORTSCAR and sportscars by definition need to have a good sound!
    Cheers, Arshad

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

    Arshad
I agree.. PSE should be standard!!

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

thanks everyone for the responses to date. Arshad, I placed my order in Feb '08, and have been allocated a Jan '09 build date. I have moved that to Feb '09 so that I might be able to get the PSE fitted at the factory. If Porsche reneges on their Feb 09 PSE target, then I will have to get it done locally, with added costs obviously. The facelifted car will be launched locally on 16/19/08. The OPC here has promised me a car the following weekend to drive as I have asked for a manual, and the dealer believes that I will change my mind after I have spend some time with the PDK. Who am I to complain when I get forced to drive a $100K car for a few hours:-)

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

Hope you mean 'at the OPC' when you mean 'locally'. If you install any other after-market exhaust system, your warranty becomes void, as I found out to my horror in the beginning of this year! If you still want to go after-market, may I suggest Skyline (Fox) Exhausts in Al Quoz. PM me for details. I had mine made there, and am totally satisfied. (Well, was totally satisfied, until I had to replace the original to get my warranty back on track)

    Re: Options for C2S MY09

Arshad, will only deal with the local agent, aware of the draconian type warranty clauses here. Dealer has confirmed that the sports exhaust can be retrofitted.
