Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

So long F1 season. Thanks a lot McLaren, for not giving Kimi a chance to win races with your unreliable engineering. So long Schumi. Your grapplehold of the sport was fun while it lasted, but F1 had some things to say about tyres, Rubens had some things to say about your dive bombing at Monaco. So long Bernie Ecclestone and your facetious mannerisms. First you side with the FIA as they were prepared to come down hard on Michelin for the USGP fiasco, now you praise them for their tenacity towards adversity. Wonder what'll happen in November.

Good tydings Fernando Alonso, the new F1 champion.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

Kimi can still do it, and he will do it !

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

    Huh?

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

Don't send a boy to do the Iceman's job.

Kimi rules. Fallabaldo Alphonso will be a perfect tireboy for Kimi.
    "Fetch, Allaphando" Fetch!"

    F.Alonso - 69
    K.Räikkönen - 45

Your Iceman ('iceman'? frozen brain?) needs to learn a thing or two from that boy.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

For better or worse, the driver's cars make as much of a difference it seems as the drivers themselves. Fair assessment?

The 23 year old boy is fetchin' alright, he is fetchin' all the trophies... 5 out of 10 so far pretty good for not having any talent! time to wake up to the facts, or will you wait till he lifts the championship title trophy as the youngest driver in Formula One history to ever achieve it?

Don't dispair though, next comes Silverstone which is a clear McLaren track... as if the McLaren F1, the fastest car in the championship needs any help... when it does work that is...
So Kimi/Montoya will have no trouble taking that race if they don't make any mistakes.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

You paella-munchin' mindmidgets will be eating your own posts 10 races from now! HOHO!!
Desmondo Alphondo is so surprised himself over his 1st places, that he needs to raise his hand and count.
I don't even recall Schumacher doing that.

Kimi went from 13th to second this sunday.
I dont think we need anymore proof that he is the man to beat.

And if you're a Ferrari F1 enthusiast, you might find it interesting that Jean Todt has proclaimed that once Schumi stops, Ferrari will try to get Kimi ton their team.
I wonder why they dont mention Flallahando Balondo?

But I congratulate my Spanish friends in here.
It will be fun to think back on this championship ten years from now, and remember the days when one of your countrymen fought bravely to almost win the title....only to fail in the end.

If all else fails I guess Fallaballadallo Haponzo can always make a few bucks advertising hairproducts from LÓreal.
"I use grease in my hair...because I'm worthless".

There are still a few vacant seats over here in the Kimi winner circle....
    wanna switch while you can?
    !Olé!

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

Funny I didn't see this before.
I knew I had seen Hallando DaGonzo somewhere before....
Here he is before he got kicked out of the Backdoor Boys.

You guys sure he is actually the one driving the car??
Looks like a girlieman to me.
    Whoohoo.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

Nicely substantiated arguments indeed... you need a reality-check Dr.Phil or raise the dosage of the lithium pills

Seriously, funny you should mention Jean Todt, I take it them you place in high value his opinion? then I guess you missed out the day he declared in an to interview Gazzetta dello Sport a few months ago and I quote: "If you ask me if Fernando is the best pilot in Formula One, the answer is yes, and of course I would like that in the future he would be with us"

... another matter if they are able to get him on contract or settle for "another driver" but there is your reality check

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

Kimi had serious pace in Magny-Cours I thought. Had he not started from 13th place -- stuck behind Trulli for half the bloody race -- he conceivably could've won, in my view.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

It would of been a close fight since Kimi even though got stuck behind Fisico, he finished almost 20 seconds behind Alonso and with one pit-stop less and Alonso after the second pit stop dropped his pace to conserved his engine for his next race and shifted at lower rpms, etc. So they both had serious pace, its would of been a close call to be decided in the last laps IMO.

McLaren now has the advantage for the rest of the season since now the constructors stop developing the 2005 cars and get working on the 2006 cars for next season now. So in what ever shape the teams' cars are, thats what it will be for the rest of the season likely since the modifications and improvements will be small from now one. And McLaren has clearly the fastest car in the lineup now, they can use much more fuel load that the rest in qualifying, still qualify in top places inspite of it, do less pit stops, and on top of it the McLaren treats the tires very well.
They had a tough start of the season but they have done a great job and is now the car to beat for the rest of the season.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

They may be neck and neck in terms of skill and pace etc, but champions always have a bit of luck going for them and this season its all Alonso. The question is whether it will continue to the end of the season or not.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

    Dr. Phil,

Alonso proved a lot of time that he is real champion driver. Remember in Imola. How long he prevented Schumacher bypassing him. Alonso made only one mistake in Canada.

Kimi made a few mistakes this year. Qualifying in Imola. Nürburgring, he made a brake mistake, so he destroyed his tyre.

Personaly Alonso is my favorite for this year. But I wouldn't be sad if Kimi will become the champion. I would be very angry if Schumacher will be the champion, he wouldn't deserve it.

    Whoohoo!
    I love them pills!

Unlike a lot of other topics in here, being enthusiastic about F1 doesn't really call for a lot of realism or rational arguments.
Anything can happen in F1...and no matter who wins - I mean "no matter how Kimi wins"- hehe.. it will be a tough season.
10 races left, 100 points maximum to fight for...a 20 point difference is nothing. Like someone said, I just hope Schumi doesnt weasel his way to another title - especially after Indy.

If Allaphando wins it will be the first girlieman to win an F1 championship.
    Wouldn't that be fabulous?

    Allaphandoz is a great driver...for a girlieman.

9 races left, 24 points difference a big difference if you consider that Alonso barely makes mistakes.

I wouldn't worry about Schumi, he is finished this year, he can't beat Alonso nor Kimi no matter how hard he tries, his F-car is no longer in another league vs the competition's. He was third this weekend but so far back that Alonso was ready to lap him if it wasn't that it was the last lap already. The only reason he is out of the bottom of the clasification is becuase he has one more GP than "everyone" else.

no. because bridgestone brought better equipment to this GP.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

True, but resulting in him "parading" into first place at Indy while all the other teams were in the boxes scoring 0 points so thats what I meant with one more GP than everyone else, rightfully earnt point but it was without any personal merit, all he had to do is cruise the car across the finish line.

For which this advantage can be concievably neutralized by the fact that the Bridgestone tyres he uses has been hampering his ability to qualify in the same league as Renault/McLaren, causing them to go into Qualifying light and causing problems in the race.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

No becuase qualifying with what you have got is not comparable, other cars have other faults too and thats F1 racing, if you don't have the right tires or the right setup or enough HP, etc tough luck and do your best, thats what the other drivers have been having to put up with, not in a few races but in the last years, were is their compensation? there is none its racing, but the win at Indy was a simple drive-it-home parade with no effort or skill involved to take the points, its not comparable, what happened at Indy has never happened before in F1.

Re: Magny-Cours: The end of the F1 season

I agree with you if you look at it from Schumi's perspective, but I'm taking the perspective of Ferrari... I'm not an F1 historian, but has there ever been a rule change to hamper a team's ability to compete in order to boost ratings?
