    Interesting info + a request

Talking to the sales manger at the dealer; he said that he can't get enough 997 and 997S Coupes, he has enough 997 and 997S cabs and he is trying to make deals with the east coast to exchange or whatever they do, also he told me that if you order a 997 or 997S coupe it won't be until June or july production date, of course no dealer discounts at all
Just some info passing it along.
The other question : Whoever has the article on Porsche buying a stake in Volkswagen and the whole corporate deals, can you please post the web site where I can find it.

Thanks, from a very smoky, hot and full of ash southern California.

Re: Interesting info + a request

Good to see the sales are strong! I spoke with my dealer in NC and he also said their Porsche 911 sales are looking good.

Re: Interesting info + a request

I too am in SoCal, and talked to several dealers in LA/OC. Some had the ability to modify unsold spec cars already in the pipeline, resulting in March or April builds. I found a dealer who was willing to work with me on price and delivery - but is out of state (WA) I ordered my car two weeks ago and it will be in WA in late April or early May. A nice drive down the OR and CA coast in a new C2S in my future!

Re: Interesting info + a request

I can verify this. I am in San Diego. When I negotiated the deal on my 06 S, my dealer wasn't interested in much of a discount. I only got $2000. Could have gotten more out of state. Dealer also tried to get me to buy a Cab or a 4S. Was willing to give me $4500 on a Cab or 4S.

Re: Interesting info + a request

Don't know if this is localized to the US, but just before christmas there was a 9 month waiting list for Cabs and 4 months for Coupes here in the UK. So Cabs were certainly in higher demand.

Re: Interesting info + a request

997 Coupes have been rare as well as there associated allocations in CA.
Production should normalize in the near future.

My reasoning is that the production capacity was shifted to produce a world supply of launch cars, first the Cabs, then the Carrera4's

Same seemed to be true for Boxter availability...production was shifted to produce a world supply of Caymans.

Re: Interesting info + a request

I'm also in San Diego and was not able to get too much of a discount on a C4S Cab. Could you tell me which dealer offered $4500 off and possibly a contact person?

Re: Interesting info + a request

I ordered my car in November from Hoehn. Before I went in, I had 2 quotes from 2 dealers online. One was in Illinois and one in LA. At the time I was looking for a X51 2S and I got a quote of $2500 from each. I took the quote to Hoehn and they initially wouldn't match it. I was ready to walk and they finally gave me $2000 off. The salesman told me 4S and cabs could get a $4500 discount. I don't know if this is still possible because he said the only reason they would discount the cabs & 4S is because they had a good number in stock and still had allocations available to order. He told me that after my order, they only had 1 more 2S allocation available for 2006. I don't know if this was true. FYI, Pioneer wouldn't match any discount even when I told them I had $2k off from Hoehn. Then 1 month after I placed my order, Pioneer called me and was willing to match the $2k off. I can't remember the salesman I originally dealt with but I was turned over to another salesman named Chris Neumeyer and he has been very helpful. Good luck.

Re: Interesting info + a request

I think you should check a few Central and NorCal dealers. I placed my order on 2/1/06 for a C2S and will have my car in late April or early May, and received a **very nice** discount from the WA dealer. I could have done just as well (if not better) on price and 1 month later on delivery from several CA dealers. I ended up in WA because I had a personal relationship with someone connected to the dealer, and thought the drive home in the Spring would be pleasant.

Re: Interesting info + a request

I ordered my 997 in November 2005. At that time delivery was not expected until April 2006. I spoke with the dealer today who stated that Porsche expected to deliver the car in March. This earlier delivery is due to a change in production at Porsche. With Cayenne sales down a portion of that production line is being devoted to 997 production.

If this is what your dealer told you, this is completely untrue. The ONLY place 911s are produced is Stuttgart. Cayennes and Carrera GTs are built in the plant at Leipzig. The 7th letter from the end of the VIN denotes the production facility: "U" is Uusikaupunki, Finland, where Boxster and Cayman are built; "S" is Stuttgart (911 and Boxster) and "L" is Leipzig. All engines for all models are hand-assembled in Stuttgart.
