    Little note: The GT2 RS is as fast (OR FASTER) than the new 991.2 Cup cars around Algarve International Circuit (AIA). Now imagine how it will be with trick go fast bits. Walter was not on new tires, and the pads started to cry after a couple of laps that he was doing in a nonchalant way as he did lap after lap as fast as a cup car.

    Not a chance given the fact that the cup car runs on slicks. The difference in grip is massiveSmiley

    I actually don‘t think they are that far off... as a comparison, the 997.2 Cup cars did around 7minutes flat on the Nordschleife. 991 Cup cars certainly being a bit quicker would most probably achieve lap times that are similiar to the GT2 RS. One should not forget the grip level of the modern street tires, especially if Michelin provides a tire „improved“ for dry track performance, as well as the power on the GT2 RS being almost 50% higher than on the GT3 Cup car.

    I drove the 991.1 Cup and the 991.2 Cup extensively in Portimao this February. As benchmark we had Christian Engelhardt with us, multiple race winner in the German Carrera Cup, also winning 2 races this year. He drove consistently below 1.49min whereas the laps of Walther in the vids are around 1.55min. To gain another 5-7 seconds on a 4km lap I dont think so. And the Cup doesnt even have ABS, not a problem for a Pro, for me it made driving at the limit much harder especially as in the beginning we had too much front brake bias. Will drive again 3 full days there in December, also with the new AMG GTR GT4.

    I believe your words and can only speak for the Nordschleife. Nonetheless, no matter where the above statement about the RS being faster than the Cup car originates from, the cars are surprisingly close in performance over one lap while they certainly make up time at different parts of the track.

    On a side note, Lars Kern who drove the record lap on the Nordschleife, won the last VLN Race this year on a Manthey-Porsche together with F. Makowiecki.

    They mention it in this review and journos have been told elsewhere that the maximum speed is limited because of the tyres with a US journ saying elsewhere that he was told that unlimited it would do 230mph !!

    I think this is Porsche marketing getting even worse than it has been getting in recent years, sure 700 real hp will go around real 350kph with a low drag 911 body but the GT2RS is not low drag.

    Checkout the vid (which I'm sure has been posted before) the acceleration from 335kph at about 1:34 does not look like an electronically limited top speed to me, it looks like aero drag is the limiting factor. Now I'd accept their argument if they said they had designed the complete car to be aero limited to 340kph (because of the tyres) but they are not saying this they are BSing IMO Smiley

    I fully understand why - a GT2 and also a GT2RS is a fairly normal car. It is just super efficient and precise. But underwhelming to most people. I still like these products. But a 720s (as an example) feels much (!) more special than a GT2RS Smiley

    If you read the last paragraph you know why they only give 4.5 stars. The car feels too normal when you drive it off the track. Autobahn is also very nice but the rest: at below 90% a GT2 is a bit boring to most drivers. This is no news though, all previous models where the same. Just today many new "fans" want a car they don't know much about. Many will be underwhelmed. Many will try to sell it.

    I don't think so - this time many people wanted one without having ever driven one of the predecessors (limited edition, bla bla bla). Many of these "new buyers" will have a bad surprise Smiley

    it is for Porsche fanatics as us, not for the crowd. smiley

    A lot of ''investors'' will quickly understand how painful it is to bet that amount on this type of car. I can see a nice Macca depreciating curve for this one...angry
