    Wake up!

Why is the 996 Turbo forum so stopped almost a week without posts! What the matter? All others forums seem to have a lot more activity... Lets stop being lazy!

    Re: Wake up!

could be a little thing called the 997 Turbo

    Re: Wake up!

Turbo 996 is old news. You know what they say, out with the old and in with the new.

You are right, but it's the 997 tt fever...

still, I'm just looking at some more recent 996tts as i consider switching my older one with 420hp for a more recent one with 450, if it makes sense economically. let'see..

It doesn't, it never does! Cars are money pits and the often you change the worst (unless you change every 3 or 6 months). Going for a earlier car means the nest year you'll be losinf even more money, specially in these cars which are very similar between all years and are pretty much all low mileage.

    Re: Wake up!

    I know, I know....

but it's the kind of psychological pampering one needs in order to shorten the wait for a potential 'big one', ie 997tt(s) with PDK . maybe I should go for a new gt3, but i dont like the idea of spending all that money and having a car which in the straight line at least isnt really faster than my actual one...

I read the 996TT Forum regularly, I haven't been posting here simply because it's the dead of winter and my 996TSCab is undergoing "winter tuning," with new tires, adjustment of stereo volume control knob, with the power upgrade completion-should be back in next week-then all I will need is some clear mild weather to take advantage of it.

Hey Turbo AL! Tell us all about that! AND DON'T FORGET THE FOTOS!

    Cheers

    Turbolite,

Why don't you "join the club" and tune up your 996TT? Surely there are good tuners near you who can readily boost the power from 420PS to the 550-600PS range without rebuilding the engine-that should pacify you until the 997TT with powerkit and PDK come out. Unless you have residual warranty concerns or trade-in impediments?

    OK:

    Re: Wake up!

To me the front air intakes on the 996 turbo look a lot nicer/cleaner than on the 997 spy shots I've seen so far.

    Re: Wake up!

    Turbo Al,

i've been thinking about exactly that a lot! but my car is completely original and still has that renewable Porsche warranty on it. furthermore it already has 72000 km on it, and talking to a tuner he suggested rather not to. he claimed that it would be best to do it before 30000 as now all parts have kind of run in this way, so i shouldnt stress it. what to say?
and lastly, if i ever wanted to trade in my car i guess it would be tough with this mileage and a tuning, so i guess i leave it like it is ...
still great performance and absolutely reliable!!

    Turbolite,

I understand the warranty and resale issues. Regarding running in and then re-tuning at 70,000+km, I might agree with that concern if they rebuilt the engine, but they could still do a 550-600 peak HP upgrade safely by changing the headers, blowoff valves, hoses, airbox and exhaust, then turn up the boost to 1.2BAR (if you have K16's, you would of course have to change to the K24's to handle 1.2BAR safely, or use a tuner that installs modified turbo's-like RUF or others, I'm sure you could get local advice on that) with a re-programmed ECU-all without getting inside the engine, so I would bet the running in issue would be less of an influence.

But, in the end, the 997TT will be lots of fun-even in base form.

    Al

Pierre, seems like you did it again... (succeeding in making even better pics of your car again I mean) like I wrote on Flat-6... is it possible to love a car?

    Re: Wake up!

Thanks Joost, but none of these pics is from me! Was too busy driving...
