    Colored Seat Stiching

I have been begging my dealer for yellow seat stiching for the 997S I have ordered, but they keep saying that it is not an option at this time. Anyone with better info? I have seen many boxters and 996s with colored stiching.

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

I have seen only red stick for 997:

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

    Blame PCNA!!
On my factory tour it was noted that many tailoring options are available for ROW and not USA.
It is a PCNA decision that puzzles the ties in Germany

Whoa! Are you saying that PCNA tells Porsche in Germany that they shouldn't offer Americans certain options offered ROW and that Porsche listens?

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

Just my opinion but deviated stitching makes me feel like I'm on LSD.

    wooooooooooow! Do you feel anything...?

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

    JEEPS .

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

It would be nicer if the stitching on the shifter boot and the hand brake were red too instead of white. How silly.

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

What's needed is black on black......

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

I think this is just a bad color combination because I've seen some that are gorgeous when done correctly. It is strange that the shift boot and hand brake are still white. Is this something that cannot be changed through options?

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

All black 997 interiors already have deviated stitching kinda - The stitching is charcoal. I've seen silver deviated stitching in 996's that looked great. If I could get silver deviated stitching on a black interior 997 with GT-Silver & or Artic I would.

Besides the fact that the deviated stitching in that picture (red stitching in the 997) isn't complete (it's missing in places) red stitching just doesn't look good in Porsche's like it does in Ferrari's. For the Challenge Stradale red stitching was standard and it looks great imo. In Ferrari's devaited stitching like in the below pics looks much better. Even more so in person.

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

    This looks awesome imo

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

White stitching on black also looks great on a black on black car.

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

I think its rather stylish, but knowing Porsche it'll be very expensive and not worht it.

Actually it's not white. That's how the standard Charcoal stitch shows up in pictures.

Holy Cow! Good point Low..., Wow. Where's that "Excellence Was Expected" philosophy? Now that you astutely pointed out something that I would have eventually noticed too: that's a shame the shift boot and hand brake are missing deviated stitches.

It just shows how "modular" Porsche component/assembly is. IOW, they couldn't manage to get the shift boot and ebrake supplier to change the color of the thread in their sewing machines. They could only get the dash leather and seat leather suppliers to do it. WHO at Porsche thought, "Oh, our customers will never notice!" You're Fiiiiired!

yeah, good point, Porsche is just naturally more low key (not that there's anything wrong with that). I've seen one Fcar in person with that look. really niiiiiice in person. It's like Ferrari can do ANYTHING "outrageous" and it looks great.

Doubt it highly that it was requested and Porsche made a mistake. More likely the customer didn't specify the stitching for the hand-brake, shifter or it wasn't available. Also, I'm pretty sure Porsche does the "dash leather" and "seat leather" stitching at Porsche not at other suppliers.

    YUP!
Pic below of a 996 TT "S" Cab I almost bought. Silver deviated stitching on the seats, doors and dash. Looked really nice

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

I agree with you, LPM. What would it have taken to complete the job? Almost looks like they forgot something.

I'm obviously not informed about of the details, just trying to illustrate what might account for the missing red stitches on the ebrake and shifter boot.

It's really "awful" that there's conflictng stitching color. It's like the sport chrono dial being white when the customer orders colored guages.

IOW, why put type of verbiage in their brochures where they say how proud they are to build cars with "no compromises?"

"Wow the all the guage cluster dial colors don't match the sport chrono! Must have been the way the customer ordered them."

I dunno. I feel bad for the guy who orders red guages and gets a white SC.

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

Regarding MMD's pic, are those red a/c vents a Porsche option? I don't remember seeing that listed. What colors does the Sport Chrono come in?

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

those red vents look photoshopped to me.

Only black or white (aluminum) AFAIK.

    Re: Colored Seat Stiching

MMD, don't they make white gauges and also aluminum gauges for the speedo? I suspect the sport chrono is aluminum to match the Carrera S and Boxster S gauges, yes?

PCNA is the exclusive importer, marketer, and distributor of Porsche automobiles for the United States.
They make the decisions about what options are made available to their dealers who are their customers.
Many of the tailoring options are not released/avvailable in the US simply at the sole discretion of PCNA.
In the US forget about exclusive (special wishes) options.

On my tour of the factory, on the wall at a staircase landing near the lleather shop was a leather color display board with no less than 50 leather colors arranged in groups blacks, browns, reds, blues.

It was said that the europeans are use to ordering and waiting for a car, the american market is more geared towards instant gratification, buying a car available on the floor.

I guess PCNA just wants to keep things as simple as possible

I'm in south Florida and I deal with the largest volume Porsche dealership in the world. My salesman told me that over 90% of the cars they sell are special ordered to customer specs. By the way, I live in a community of 255 homes and we have 28 Porsche's living here! Not a bad average.
