Re: Aston Martin Rapide (2009): first official image

LOL, seems that AM is also struggling with EU laws about external mirror sizes... jeez, I thought that the 997.2 were dumbo-ears already!

Now that a sporty and stylish 4-door design.

IMO Aston and Maserati have the best looking line-up in the market.

Now you can have children and still drive a good looking car  Smiley

    Forget the panamera...

Re: Aston Martin Rapide (2009): first official image

I too find this 4 door "Vantanguish DB" very boring and unimaginative and with a ridiculous price tag. I find it neither bad nor good looking but very neutral impression.

Maybe it was designed by one of these companies that stretch cars to turn them into limos, because this is how it looks. A typical A-M generic design stretched in the middle by 1 meter or so.

And I am not saying this because I generally Iike Porsches because I don't  see this car taking any sales from the Panamera except in London and perhaps in some other places where  british products still mean something.

If you want something exquisite and rarer with 4 doors get a Maserati. Even from the engineering point of view, Maserati have more resources than permanently troubled A-M.

Re: Aston Martin Rapide (2009): first official image

You guys are funny, praising any painted grille on a Porsche model but complaining about evolution at AM.

By the way, why do dumbo ears look cute on Dumbo but not on cars..?

Re: Aston Martin Rapide (2009): first official image

Well, I mentioned because that was the only part I didn't like about the rapide, and because it struck me how shamelessly they dropped the design of the conecpt mirrors and put on these touareg mirrors.

On the other hand, I think I would never buy a 4-dorr from AM. Maserati seems about the only alternative in the Panamera/Rapide/Estoque/Quatroporte segment... At least, that is the only car on which it doesn't look weird to be a 4-door supercar.

If anything is wrong at AM it is that there should be no DB9 / DBS model. There should be an updated Vanquish, the rapide, and the V8.

Has anyone else noticed that Aston Martin cars are still good-looking even though head stylist Henrik Fisker left the company quite a while ago, but the cars bearing his name since he set up his own company would hardly win any styling awards? Smiley

So who really did / does the styling for AM? Smiley

I bet AM is happy they didn't pick SAAB head of design after Panamera pix were released Smiley.

what's the 4 seater business with all these cars ? a rear bench is much more useful than single seats.

I think the rear headroom is not high enough in this type of cars and therefore seats have to be deep "bucket style". This layout limits the room to 2 individual seats.

Re: Aston Martin Rapide (2009): first official image

Not to mention that 2 bucket seats are far sportier and more supportive than a bench. These are cars that are meant to be driver hard after all.

I honestly think someone should try that as a business, the mirrors on new cars are hideous, I honestly couldn't bare looking at them every day if I were to have a 2009 car! :(
