    Eric and ha,

Can I then just borrow only 1B from either one please? Not 35B not 36B just 1B please

Re: Porsche takes 35 bln euro.....

That is an unbelievably bad move. Taking on debt to buy a money losing business with no prospects just when oil might be set for another jump and a slowing worldwide economy.

VW shares are high now just because of speculation of this move since their first poor decision to buy their initial position. A disaster for the future of porsche.

They can't give the cayenne away, the cayman, a nice car, just doesn't sell, the panamera looks like a dud so far and now this. The leadership must be living in an alternate universe. All these billions could have created a diverse porsche product line, see the 917 thread.

Re: Porsche takes 35 bln euro.....

They are not going to borrow Euro 35bn, they have the option to borrow up to Euro 35. That makes a huge difference.

They have to set-up this type of financing just in case their bid on VW would be a huge success and they would get all the remaining outstanding shares they don't own

I firmly believe it is highly unlikely that they will get too many shares so they will not use these credit lines.

Re: Porsche takes 35 bln euro.....

So what you are saying is that it is a formality and they are just going thru the motions required by german law and they hope there are no takers.

I hope that is the case but they have already sunk too much money in VW.

    Make sense Eric.

I just hope they won't make the same mistake as Mercedes did with Chrysler .

Re: Porsche takes 35 bln euro.....

I like the move. Porsche can place its cheaper models under the VW division where they belong. They then can produce some amazing limited production sport cars without the pressure of making huge margins on each car.

BTW what you are witnessing is the creation of a second MB.

I fully agree with you .

    Yes.

Regarding the gaining control in VW, there are many, many good reasons for it, most falling outside of the parts supply.
