New US and Euro Ratings and the GT3 and Turbo.
Apparently there are new HP ratings that have taken effect in Europe according to Car and Driver and Car. In their latest issue I've read, they mentioned during their test of I think, a Toyota that this 06 model although more powerful than the 05 version, on paper it has 20HP less than the 05 version, and that this was due to new regulations on how manufactures rate HP.
Wondering if this affected the GT3's or new Turbo's HP ratings as well - if in fact that they are also using this new rating, particularily if they had been using the older ratings on the 05 and older cars.
The latest version of Car also mentioned this fact in one of their tests in the issue.
Anyone comment on this?
I realize that Europe and the US have different HP ratings and this is NOT what I'm talking about - this is apparently some new rating where in the past manufacturers were allowed to disconnect certain things on the vehicle that would rob HP, this new rating states that you must have those items integral to the running of the vehicle when rating the HP of that vehicle. It isn't mandatory that all manufacturers use this NEW rating BUT some manufacturers are using it now, ie Toyota and I am wondering if Porsche has used this new rating system for the new cars and that this might account for why the turbo has only 478HP rather than the 500 plus we all expected it to have.
