    Sport Shifter and TT's Looooow First Gear

    You know how low first is in these cars. You hit the rev limiter really fast when doing a frisky launch.

    Can a sport shifter improve this situation any?

    I can't imagine how much actual time it would save or if it would at least change the _perception_ of first-to-second upshifting happening so insanely rapidly.

    Is there any rationale to thinking the SS and the TT's first gear are linked as a "must have?"

    I have the SSK in mine and absolutely love it. Some might feel that it's a bit too notchy for their tastes but honestly it becomes easier over time to the point where you'd actually be able to shift quicker. So, I'd say that it's a must have.

    Was tipped by my PDE instructor to aim to change 1st gear when you get to 6000rpm - to give yourself a bit of margin. It did seem to help me a little during my various test drive days...

    I went from normal shifter to short shifter in my old Carrera. It did make the car 'feel' more punchy somehow. I loved it.

    If I was living in Germany, I'd go to RUF and ask him to make me custom gear ratio for all 6 gears without upping the rev-limiter and leave the final gear ratio as it is

    The way I hear how fast you have to shift, I'd go with these ratios and this would be my choice of gearing if adding filter, exhaust and a tune.

    1: 49mph(78km/h) 3.10
    2: 79mph(126km/h) 1.91
    3: 117mph(187km/h) 1.30
    4: 149mph(238km/h) 1.02
    5: 183mph(292km/h) 0.83
    6: 208mph(332km/h) 0.73

    Maybe that's just me

    Nah, then he'd probably find other things to nitpick about the Tip. He'd probably complain about not having gotten a manual, etc.
