    Cayman GTS 3.4

    Hi guys

A friend of mine is watching for a 3.4 GTS.

Does anyone have owner experience with this model?

    Appreciate all the inputs

    Cheers

    Re: Cayman GTS 3.4

Currently 5 years of ownership, absolutely happy.

    Re: Cayman GTS 3.4

    Is it manual or PDK?

    Re: Cayman GTS 3.4

    PDK.

    Re: Cayman GTS 3.4

Dreamcar and I each have the 981 Boxster GTS. I won’t speak for him but I plan to keep this car long term. Mine is manual with sport suspension (not PASM), LSD / torque vectoring. Best part is the NA flat 6 soundtrack.

Like you mcdelaug my 981 Boxster GTS is a keeper. Had mine coming up five years and as thrilled with the car now as I was the day I picked it up. Mine is PASM / PDK / PTV (LSD & torque vectoring) and Ceramic Composite Brakes. As mcdelaug says the N/A flat six sound is outstanding - as is almost everything else including road holding, handling, comfort, practicality (for a sports car) and build quality  Smiley

The only issue I’ve had is two dynamic drivetrain mounts fail, a fairly common fault I am told.

Smiley Wasn’t originally like this here! Nearly all the Boxster / Cayman enthusiasts have gone from RT sadly and the forum regular contributors nowadays are nearly all high net worth individuals that are happy to spend more on watches than most would on cars!  Smiley It’s still the best sports car forum on the internet though Smiley

I have a 2016, PDK, PASM and leather ventilated seats. Love it. I was first in line at my dealer for a GT4, but I haven't put in my order yet and will likely ask for my deposit back, because I like the GTS too much to let it go...

Just for discussion's sake I had all ignition coils replaced this year, also something "common" as I am told. Apart from that over 40k km of DD Smiley and  some spirited driving Smiley , my GTS is doing fine, summers and winters. The technicians at my dealer always praise the sound of the car either way, with open / closed exhaust flap.

    Re: Cayman GTS 3.4

Yeah about 50km for me. I have replaced the front trunk liner twice and it still doesn’t fit right. Some things Porsche just doesn’t do well. But the sound with the top down is a real pleasure, something I can’t get in another brand for twice the money.

It is nice to have a couple of Boxster and Cayman owners on RT. Glad you’re here!

Maybe I get bored easily but I’ve more or less moved on from cars, watches, Savile Row, wine... Lately it’s Japanese ceramics, and some other things that catch my attention... RT has one or two enthusiasts of all types, and the long term members are “real people” who are honest about who they are. I’ve been here since 2004, and while it’s not perfect, I haven’t found a replacement.

Interesting, isn't it ? Though I keep on "stalking" GT4s on track - perhaps because of the rear spoiler and the low suspension set-up - the GTS is far to close performance-wise and as a fun car to a GT4. I know that I will loose a couple of seconds each lap on track to a GT4, but I still regard this 3.4 l engine to be a real gem and the handling is so superb, I simply do not see a lot of gains if I swapped cars...(however, the dark side is always tempting the young padawan in me...ie, Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 sports cup edition ...brrrrrrr....)

Put some Cup 2s on it and you'll be even closer wink

Shut up! Smiley I already thought about it several times, but did not pull the trigger...perhaps, next year ... kisswink

    Re: Cayman GTS 3.4

    Do it! smiley

I ran a set of Cups on my Boxster for a season.. Made a big difference, and it sounds like you spend quite a bit of time on track these days. I used those in the summer and some Blizzaks for skiing blush

Thanks, I have new pilot sport 4s on the car right now (which I think are great), but will certainly give it a try then, depending on my "spirited driving itinary" next year - I sort of always struggle a bit as Porsche maintains its "approved" tires list, where the Cups are not included...still, I will give it a serious thought ... Maybe the only reason they do not put the Cup on the approved list is so it does not get too close in track times  to the GT4 Smiley

Those '' approved lists '' are very biased to me
