Re: Gallardo vs. Ducati 999 on Fifth Gear (video)
Absolutely, the bike is much more dificult to drive fast around the track, its more complicated to drive than the car. So with "average" drivers, the Gallardo may have won. But in the bike's favour, that track is a very tight and slow track which favours the car, if the track were less gokart-like then its shouldn't be too hard to leave the Gallardo behind. I know I'm faster in highways or open roads in my bike than in my car, I think, but not in tight winding canyon or mountain roads.
What I wonder is, why did they choose a Ducati? The inline-4 1000cc are not only more popular and representative than the V-twin 1000cc bikes but also faster around the track. I guess they had to make it a closer call to make it more exiting but a Suzuki GSX-R1000 or Kawa ZX-10 would have created an even greater gap with the Gallardo.
