    Re: Considering a new C2S...

can you get the weights of the various 20" wheels and the 19" wheel?

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

I asked but no luck so far :)

However it seems that the only difference is in the paint...

The std wheels are a good trade off between resistance and weight (if not painted).

The classic one is marginally heavier because it's painted.

The techno wheels are lighter BUT most people paint them black and by doing so the difference starts to be again very small.

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

Wheels in the standard silver colour are still painted, of course. Do you mean that black wheels, for example are  painted twice, black colour is applied on top of silver? I thought that would have been the case with aftermarket painted wheels not factory originals.

I think the weight of the 991 wheels is rather determined by their individual designs, given that they are all cast with the same alloy.

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

Just to add that 20" techno wheels are standardly painted in Ft silver.

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

I spoke to Porsche Exclusive who said that they had the wheel weights, and that he would email them to me.

hours later, he emails me to say that they are not available.

someone at Porsche is not permitting release for some reason.

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

    I already told you so...

Reminds me of my first Porsche, a lowered 964 C2. In Cannes I could only drive it backwards into a parking garage.smiley

Don't remind me of parking garages in South France. Pure horror...I was driving a Cayenne Turbo.

    Ferdie:
    Pentium:

Front disk brakes on the S are larger so you can't fit 19" wheels...

That shouldn´t be a problem since you can order 19" winter tires for the Carrera S as well.

Other than that, it´s a very nice spec. Some personal comments from me though, as I find the combination to be very classy. What do you think about the exterior colour in white, all other elements (interior, rims) remaining the same? You do prefer the mobile phone connection kit (Handyvorbereitung) over the built-in telephone module? Also a bit surprised that you did not choose Bose or Burmester audio, unless you configure a system on your own.

I thought you are correct Ferdie but guess what... the 19" winter wheels are for the Carrera only. The S gets only 20" winter wheels... See pages 18-19 of the "Tequipment_Tequipment 991.pdf991.pdf" attached catalog (page 10 of the attached pdf).

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

    Well... I am correct. Smiley

The Carrera and Carrera S designations just refer to the rim design, if you take a look at the list next to the pictures (on page 18), you can see that those sets are available for both models. Same goes for the list of recommended winter tires, it also refers to 19 and 20 inch rims available for both models. In fact, the limiting factor was the brake system on some of the 997 models to use 18 inch rims, none such issues with the 991 model. Smiley

    Re: Considering a new C2S...

Update: I decided to add Bose and AWD :)

I never had a C4S and I want to try something new.

Also I want to drive the car all year so I hope the AWD will help in winter and rain.

If I am lucky I will get the car by Christmas!

Thank you all for your comments!
