Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

I will be in Geneva during press days and will send my impressions. For now, the design is clearly sharper, with more edges. Not bad in my view. The real test is the roofline from the side.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

From the Bild images it looks crisper maybe it will look best in light metallic colors. But for the money if you like a.sedan with room, speed and tech the new bmw 750I xdrive looks hard to beat.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

the rear window design has less of the downward sloping tear drop than the last round of lightly camo'd shots?

Hey guys, any information when the new Panamera will be revealed? Rumours say either Geneva or Paris.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Barring any hiccups, it will be a 2017 model appearing by the end of this year.

    I predict Geneva...

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Automakers are already showing 2017 models at this point in the year for release/availability later in the year, so I think the Panamera isn't too far off. Also, then-CEO Matthias Müller told IndianAutosBlog on September 25th, 2015 that "you'll see the car in Geneva" when asked about the second-generation Panamera.

However... Seeing that the 718 Boxster is just around the corner and we've already seen some development reports by auto journalists about it but haven't heard a peep about the Panamera makes me think otherwise. Wouldn't make sense to debut both the Panamera and the 718 Boxster in Geneva since the spotlight shouldn't have to be shared by two major debuts, unless one will be shown before the other. Any thoughts?

Not sure my memory is correct, but I don't think Porsche has debuted a Boxster (open air) model before in Geneva.  Not a great fit in a winter context.

Panamera may be released in Shanghai, however, as China was Porsche's biggest market in 2015.

But if not a Panamera, what will debut?  The 911R is too exclusive and limited for a major show, IMHO.

I will be in Geneva for press days, so hoping for something new.

Porsche has arranged us to visit the show on March 1st in the afternoon, maybe we might run into each other :)

2012 Porsche Cayenne S [gone but never forgotten]

These were my thoughts as well. Porsche would not show two major highlights on one show (I know the Boxster gets "just" a facelift, but with turbo engines,so...). The Panamera introduces new tech, new interior for the next gen. cars, so it should have the stage for himself alone. So like ALDO stated September. Any news on the specs and technology?

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

I had have dinner tonight with someone who has seen the new Panamera without any camouflage.

The car is the car to have. The console looks very nice, with only few buttons. Huge navigation display.

    The engines:
    3.0l V6 Panamera and GTS
    2.9l V6 hybrid
4.2l ?? V8 Turbo with 550 hp, the same engine gets Bentley and Ursus. Ursus with 700 hp or even more.
V8 diesel with 437 hp or so

The new Panamera is more sportier and offers more comfort! Lot of innovations will start with the car.

Outside a lot of elements of sports tourer concept car.

The rest is not for publicity, sorry.

Wow, many thanks, sounds great! kiss I hope that Porsche will not be disadvantaged in terms of pushing their bounderies in terms of performance in any way when they'll share the same engine and other components with Lamborghini/Bentley.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

For the price they charge they better blow off the competition and make the car fun to drive and have 5 seats and more luggage space.

The models with V6 will have a hard time vs S8 and such yet still the biggest competition is the Macan...

I think they see it totally different. Panamera is D level and higher then Cayenne which it higher positioned then Macan,

5-seat is not Panamera, more luggage is not Panamera - if you need this you have to buy another car. Tell me which car offers 5 seats where 3 adults can sit in comfort at the rear seats?

S class AMG, 7 series, S8... All Panamera competitors... Maybe even the quatroporte...

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Panamera needs to get lighter. They should start from that. Fancy restyling and putting same old engines that are powered up wont help Panamera very much to gain new buyers.

If Porsche kept their words on listening to customers, the next Panamera will have a 3 seater rear bench, with the option of going 2 seater.

They did already on lowering and streamlining the roof line.

If not Geneva, then more likely Shanghai.  Current generation was at Shanghai in 2009, I think.

If September, what show?  Frankfurt is not until 2017.

    WOW angel

Looks really sleak on the exterior from all angles (didn't see myself writing this based on what I think of the current car)

The updated interior and new tech looks very promising. Seems like the button fest has been replaced with touch panel in the mid console and the pcm screen looks quite much larger. Don't know about the touch though, personally I like pushing the real buttons. Also looks like the rev-counter still is analogue and then the surrounding cluster is full digital. Nice!

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

I like it as well, a lot. I hope for even more advanced tech in terms of performance. As you already mentioned, it looks really sleak.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

This must be the new interior RC saw for the next 911.

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

The interior looks great especially the combination of analog and digital elements around the rev counter. Button and touch display positioning seem to be thought after. I'm still no big fan of touch in cars though, but having tested the new touch sat-nav in the VW Golf, it works better than expected whilst driving. The biggest issue for some owners might be the fingerprints on the glossy center consolesmiley

All in all, Porsche goes into the right direction IMO

Re: Panamera 2016 (Gen.2) Thread Closed

Except the gear shift is still there. It makes no sense these days to have one and use this precious space in the car...
