    Buying used 19" rims for 997 Carrera: Precautions to take!

    I am looking to buy some used(slightly) 19" for my 997 carrera...


    What is your opinion of the subject?

    What do you think i should look after??
    Damages,hints,problems, repairs?


    My thought was:
    I did not opt for 19" and Porsche charges 5.550 Euros for carrera S 19", with the tires,and with no exhange possible;i think the money is too much.

    I though i should go and check some high esteemed used cars companies for 997 (base model),(as they do not have yet used 997's at Porsche official dealer) .

    Then, propose to the used car's dealer, to exhange the 19" of the base model he sells,for a price that i will negotiate, and exhange my 18" carrera's for him to put in the car he sells.

    I think in that way i ll get a much lower price, because there is not way a used car dealer will "get" the money the 19" really cost on a used car..

    In either case he will get more money for me than the premium he would add to the used car's price...


    What do you think? And what price should i negotiate?


    Now an important matter is i want to be sure i get the correct dimensions wheel,designed for 997 S and not the carrera S wheels that are destined for 987 boxster S as optional. These wheels look the same but have different dimentions and offset.

    Just stick with your 18's dilinger. They look great, and it's the optimal wheel for a 911. You'll soon see that the 997 GT3 will have 18 inch wheels confirming that. The 18's provide a great ride, great performance, and more affordable tire replacement.

    Spend the money on learning how to drive the thing faster - you will get more enjoyment that way than from buying 19" wheels

    Dilinger, allow me one question?

    What is that talking about retrofitting all about? Coloured seat belts, 19" rims, sport shifter, PCCB, PSE, phone, CD-changer...
    Sorry mate, don't want to offend you, but why didn't you order at least SOME of all those options before, that means when speccing your car?

    Well, I guess PSE wasn't available when he got the car.
    Retrofitting PCCB? Ouch, VERY expensive. I wouldn't do that.

    Rossi i would not retrofit pccb's, it just crossed my mind at some time.

    I want to tell you as i posted before that in Greece when the car comes with factory extras ,the taxation of the car and in accordance the personal taxation goes higher.. And around here we already have high taxation on cars..

    This was the reason i did not buy the S version, the factory value of the car as it goes higher, increases the car's taxation a lot..
    Same goes with factory extras as you know, they increase factory value.. But with retrofits the story is different

    i know its a very stupid law, to afford a car but cannot affort the taxation..

    So i must accept it
