    Rear window venting.

    Hello all,
I would like to ask if anyone knows if there is an option that will allow the rear quarter windows to pop out for ventilation?

    Re: Rear window venting.

Hello MRG, and welcome to Rennteam. There's one, but it'll set you back about $10k.

    Re: Rear window venting.

    It's called the CAB option

    Re: Rear window venting.

Would be really nice to crack those rear windows open to reduce sunroof noise.

Too bad they're fixed shut as standard.

In some parts of the world...

...they're known as "curry vents". Usually a bundled option with ventillated seats.

    Rear window venting.

    Try these rear windows

    Re: Rear window venting.

Speaking of vents, have you guys noticed the the little vents in the storage section below the rear window? What are they for? Does the a/c actually send air to them? I am too fat and old to try and sit in the back and figure out. I am sure you young and healthy fella's can let me know..

I just flipped my extremely fit and muscular fingers thru the 2005 Technik Introduction (PNA 489 421 05) and it seems those vents are not on the active circuit of the airconditioning/heating system.

They're probably just passive openings to get a little air circulated back there from inside the rear body panels.

    Re: Rear window venting.

Unfortunately, Porsche deleted those openable rears around 1978 when the 911SC was introduced. I likely then. They worked great, and could even be opened or closed on the fly (while driving) if need be. It came down to a security thing I think, as someone with a long stiff wire could infiltrate the car from those windows.

    Re: Rear window venting.

The E46M3 has little electric actuators which open and close the vertically-hinged rear window flaps. It's a nice feature to have the windows crack open and to be able to do it with a switch.

The reason they're there is for rear seat passenger comfort. You can kinda understand why Porsche discontinued them in the newer Carreras

    Re: Rear window venting.

does anyone know if the louvered plexi windows are actually available ...imo they would look amazing on a tricked out street ride
