    997.1 pdk exists?

Please help me on this because it seems i m not keeping up with the porsche developments.

Did a 997.1 TT ever existed featuring a PDK transmission?

Or the PDK was introduced at the facelift?

    Thanks

    No. Only Tiptronic.

PDK was introduced with the facelift.

    Re: 997.1 pdk exists?

Nevertheless, the 997.1 Turbo Tip was very good and the only Porsche faster with Tiptronic than manual. It featured an overboost function too. The only tiptronic 911 worth having.

Of course the 997.2 Turbo PDK is even better and the Turbo S (PDK only) top.

    Re: 997.1 pdk exists?

I had a 997.1 Tiptronic and really disliked like the gearbox. Felt out of place on such a car.

I would go for manual without thinking twice. PDK is another story.

    Re: 997.1 pdk exists?

I enjoyed the Turbo Tip very much and the auto box suited the high torque. Nothing like the PDK for sure, but it qualifies as an alternative to the 6 speed manual on the Turbo, whereas on the other sportscars it was a non starter.

I suppose it is subjective. For what it's worth, I sold the 997.1 Turbo because I did not like the gearbox.

It was a great car otherwise.

    Re: 997.1 pdk exists?

I really didn't like the tiptronic on the 997 turbo.  It turned me off the car completely, even tho' the car was rocket-ship fast: it reminded me of playing Gran Turismo on my PS3.  The manual is a completely different story however: it is much more involving and is probably the best manual gearbox I've ever come across.

The PDK in the Gen 2 turbo and turbo S is in a different class to the tiptronic: much more involving and fun, if you need an auto.  I've driven a few around Silverstone and they are flawless and much more characterful than the tip.

I actually liked the Tiptronic but the car was tuned to over 550 hp and the setup was quite good.

That must have been a bit of a beast!  Smiley

How you finding the 991 turbo S?

Amazing car, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, this is the perfect description for it. My 997.1 Turbo was louder though (Cargraphic exhaust with 200 cell high flow cats, Alois Ruf was nice enough to allow the usage of this exhaust system in my car, so I can save a buck or two but the ECU software had to be slightly adapted and everything, incl. a new chassis setup, was done by Marc Lieb's father who works there). Yes, my old Turbo was fun and fast but after five years of ownership, it got boring. Smiley Wanted something new...
