Corrosion areas
Dear 997 owners,
I don't know if you take time to crawl under your car and observe the different parts of your motor thoroughly. Well, I like to do it when I have some time and when the weather doesn't allow for a ride. I have noticed several areas of corrosion underneath, particularly "at the base of the exhaust pipes": I have a couple of rust bolts and observed a part made of a pile of three long plates, covered with rust. I don't know how to name this part, sorry about that; all I can say is that you find the same part symetrically on the other end of the engine [as well as the rusted bolts cited above].
Well is that normal? I mean do you also observed that and most of all is it normal that Porsche uses iron parts for the engine and not stainless alloy, considering the price you pay for such a car?
Finally, would you have any idea about a treatment to irradicate the rust from the engine?
Thanks.
