    997GT3 vs 996 GT3

    Wondering how many that do have a 996GT3 are ready to trade up for the 997GT3.
    I'm not totally convinced of the trade up yet.
    I like the look of the new one, but I prefer the interior of mine over the 997 - especially in the seating department, I prefer the forward seating of the 996, the 997 to me feels more Audi like than anything.

    What kind of HP would the 997GT3 have to have for you to switch up?
    Would it matter if the motor is a dry sump version of the 997S? Or would you only trade up if the engine is based on the 3.6L of the current motor?

    I think the 997 seats (all of them) are far better than any of the 996 seats that were offered in the USA (much more comfortable and supportive). And, there is a rumor that the 997GT3 may have optional Carrera GT seats. So, I don't see how you could prefer the seating of the 996...

    OK, those are very nice for shorter trips or tracking! They could easily be transferred to the 997 though (unless the lack of side airbags prevents it). Have you ever sat in the CGT seats? They come in several widths from the factory too...

    Good question. Here in the UK you can pick up a very low mileage Mk II for not much more than Pounds50K. A 997 GT3 is likely to be Pounds80K. I doubt it going to justify that premium. Happy to be proven wrong though.
