    Is it me or does this look like they are in a parking lot after watching Porsches running at the ring?  Just sayin' - I know there is that hill thingy and a bit of a straight but it just does not seem like enough track to test a road car. 

    Nice sound, but the comments were odd?  This was some type of magazine writer?  I am not certain the numbers (lap times) can be compared.  What would Walter do in a GT3 4.0?

    My neighbor is a Chevy Dealer, he would rather have a 911. lol

    Times can definitely be compared - Randy Pobst is a professional racer and he drove all the cars in stock configuration.  That is the premier road course in the United States, imo...

    Randy is a championsip winning pro driver who primarily raced 911 GT3's from 1997-2005 (not sure how you could be into Porsche's and not know...but).  It is the actually the100th anniversary of Chevrolet.  The Cenntenial badge shows a picture of Louis Chevrolet racing in a 1920 era formula car.  Louis was a Swiss born emmigrant of French descent who came to America looking for a better life and subsequently co-founded the company that is called Chevrolet.  Leguna Seca is one of the premier road courses in America (also the world), and is considered by many to be in the top 3 courses in North America.  Many magazines test at the track, and like the Ring in Germany, it is widely considered as a "test bed" for comparing sports cars on US soil.

     That is one hell of a car and probably could be bought for less than $100k. 

    Porsche should offer a CD sound track of this car or Ferrari, R8, Lambo, LFA, Ford truck or even a Mustang for all buyers of the TT. At least it would provide some audio sensation to the driving experience.

    Nick, it sounds like your new-found appreciation of Porsche cars is starting to wane ....

    IMO the character of a TT is very different from the character of a GT3. To me, it seems like you want the power and comfort of a TT but the excitement of a GT3 (re: sound).

    It's not unreasonable ... but the Porsche '911 menu' currently doesn't offer that dish.

    I guess you could have bought a GT2 or a GT2 RS but they are more hardcore vehicles.

    IMO you need to appreciate (1) who Porsche is making these cars for and (2) which place they were made for.

    In Germany, there is a vast network of autobahns (often with no speed limit). The TT is a perfect autobahn bullet designed for everyday usage in all weathers (inc rain). Germany is a vast country and getting from one place to another can take many hours. Therefore, driving at high speed shrinks these distances. The TT is magnificent at this. It accelerates quietly and efficiently along the motorway enabling its owner to drive effortlessly across the country. The key to driving on the autobahn is that you often have to slow down if a slower vehicle occupies the left lane. When the lane becomes clear again, a TT can effortlessly accelerate back up to autobahn cruising speed.

    The GT3 is a track tool that is not really intended for daily use. Neither is the GT2 RS.

    I suppose one could use a GT2 every day - it's designed to give GT3 handling with TT power - but it still lacks the aural drama you cherish.

    Like I said, it's hard to find something that meets your needs - despite the long list of 911 variants.

    It seems to me that you need a powerful sports car which gives you aural drama even if you are driving at low speed. I imagine you wouldn't drive long distances in it. So, I still don't understand why you didn't replace your F430 Spyder with another Ferrari or a Lamborghini. IMO those cars are made for someone with your requirements.

    There is no reason for Porsche to produce a sport car which cannot provide sound sensation to enhance the driving experience like almost all other upper end sport cars.As I written before, how popular would the 918 be if it sounded like a TT. Or a GT3/GT4 RS sounding like a TT. Until owners begin to speak up, I doubt Porsche will change.

    BTW, I agree with your assessment regarding my preferences. Ferrari Spider's have been with me for 10 years. I am looking for something different. Not sure what.Smiley
